My Self-Summary

I am a guy who appreciates the outdoors, good friends, fun times, and hates writing self-summaries. Seriously, knowing someone is more of an experiential thing in my opinion. I suppose the most important part of this summary is the things I stress about myself, the things that are unwavering. I care about people close to me, and I enjoy helping them. Being nice makes me happy. If I see hypocrisy or injustice I'm decidedly not nice, and would revel in some day running down a purse-snatcher and tackling them... cops get all the fun though.

I'm a studier of history, especially how it applies to our future. I'm also pretty technically inclined, and have installed many solar power systems, along with building homes from the ground up. It is something I'm looking at pursuing further as a career, if the opportunity presents itself.

What I’m doing with my life

I try to improve myself from day to day. I read a lot, learn new things and catalog them away for future use.

I’m really good at

Solving things, analyzing systems ad-nauseum (no use on women), writing, and I can really make a funny moment that we'll talk about for years to come. Case in point, me and my friends were at the mall a long time ago and I see this lady overturn a display and it starts spilling items into her lap and she's trying to halt the flow. I blurted out, "It's kinda like putting your finger in a dike, eh?" The lady must have thought my reference was lewd because the look we saw on her face was one of utter horror.

I can also purr like a cat. So far that has been one of my most unique skills.

The first things people usually notice about me

That I'm a human being, at least I think I pull that look off. This is a pretty circumstantial question, but some little kid thought I looked like Robert Downey Jr - or rather Johnny Stark from Ironman - the other day. At least I don't think I resemble him in his drug-addled phase.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Read lots, watched lots, listened lots, ate some.

Books:
Brave New World, Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, James Michener, Michael Crichton, Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, Robert Ludlum, science stuff (man crush on Carl Sagan and Richard Feynman), atheist scripture, HP Lovecraft, Chuck Palahnuik, fantasy, Wasp Factory, Stephen King, Jared Diamond, lots of classics. Currently reading "The Power of One" by Bryce Courtenay, and enjoying it.

Music:
Tool, A Perfect Circle, Tom Petty, Metallica, classics, classical music, some Jazz. Not a big fan of country or rap, but I'm not a music snob either.

Movies:
Quinton Tarantino films, Princess Bride, Caddyshack, Memento, Team America World Police, Schindler's List (only movie that really made me ball my eyes out). This list could be huge.

A lot more, I'm not good at making lists.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I read books that make one think about the broad perspective, and what it means to be in a society, the good and the bad. I suppose when my mind is set to roam, those are the things I think about: the intricate tapestry of human life. I also think about a lot of mundane things. Why people moan in pain and also in sexual ecstasy? Can gay people pop up as their own quiver matches?

On a typical Friday night I am

Sharing some time with friends or family. I like concerts, even if I'm the only one there not smoking ganja.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Some of you creep me out. I'm just glad I don't have to look through the male profiles as well. I've also been rather upset lately about being an introvert, so I'm force-feeding myself some extroverted challenges.
