I am today's Tom Sawyer, giving up the funk, and your vehicle, baby!.

My Self-Summary

Name's Eddie. I have lives in therapy, performance, and artistic creation. They usually don't intersect. Usually.

I know a lot of people and have a lot of friends. A blessing and a curse of mine is my gregarious personality. I make friends fast and easy.

My main job is in massage therapy. Been doing that about 5 years now. I'm also into fire dancing, photography, and karaoke. Currently I am also training for my first ever triathlon and exploring the world of modeling.

I love dogs, cats, ferrets, hedgehogs, snakes, tarantulas, etc. Basically, all critters are good by me.

My sense of humor is often drier than watching a British comedy while sipping on a glass of bad merlot during a Tucson summer. That is, to say, quite dry. I appreciate all sorts of humor from subtle witticisms and complex ideas to slapstick. I'm really quick to poke fun at myself, and also at others. There's much humor to be enjoyed in life and, sadly, we don't have enough time to enjoy it all!

That said, I do acknowledge the times when humor isn't apropos and respect them as such.

In the end, I'm just an easy going guy! And I don't feel the dating profile this site gave me really fits... At least the name sure doesn't.

What I’m doing with my life

I am creating my own massage business specializing in injury management/rehabilitation and sports therapies along with typical Swedish massage and whatnot.

I do quite a bit of photography and have been actively shooting people and/or models for about 3 years. I love creating images and art and was, until recently, an assistant organizer of a photo meetup group. In addition to that, I teach people how to use their cameras and the basics of photography (i.e. how to create an exposure, differences between aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc.). My goal is to branch out and shoot a few weddings every month. The pressure of weddings is such fun!

Finally, I'm a fire dancer and performer. My forte is in fire eating and blasting, but I also do fire staff, poi, and hoop (yes, Virginia, I hula hoop fire yet still look masculine doing it). I work with a few groups in Tucson, most notably Elemental Artistry.

I’m really good at

Eating fire, cooking good food, riding my bike, tasting fine beers, and living a life of exquisite distinction.

The first things people usually notice about me

According to most of my friends, my smile. I wear one about 90% of the time. The rest of the time I wear a diabolically nefarious smirk.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My favorite author of all time would have to be Robert Heinlein followed up by Douglas Adams, then James Patterson. Going to specific books, Stranger in a Strange Land, The Alchemist, and The No Asshole Rule (great read, I recommend it) have given me priceless insight and perspective.

Entertaining books...well, I have too many I enjoy to list!

Movies: Thank You For Smoking, Watchmen, 300, Inglourious Basterds (hooray for Quentin Tarantino movies about Jews kicking a bunch of Nazi ass!), any of the Batman movies not starring George Clooney, Wedding Crashers, I Love You Man, etc.

Music: classic rock, classical, funk, soul, hip hop, etc.

Bands/artists: Prince, Barenaked Ladies, Tower of Power, Ludacris, James Brown, Led Zeppelin, Bon Jovi (old, not new, please), Jimmy Buffett (again, I prefer his older stuff), Michael Jackson (don't judge me!), Aqua (again, don't judge me!), Bartók, Beethoven, AC/DC, Mozart, Verdi, Outkast, etc.

Food: not moving. If it is moving, I'll stop it from moving, then eat it.

Entertainment: karaoke (oh hell yes) is one of my favorite things in the world, but I'm at home anywhere from a rock concert to the opera. I love theatre and would love any excuse to get to the Gaslight Theater or small productions more often. I'd also love to go see Gogol Bordello when they stop here next and get out to the next Tom Walbank and the Ambassadors show. I'm not preferential to the typical bar scene, but it's okay now and again.

The six things I could never do without

My fascial network.
Music.
Art.
My bike.
Pools (or any body of water).
Fire.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Concepts for photography, fire dancing stuff, food, music...

On a typical Friday night I am

Usually at karaoke. But I'm game for almost anything, really!

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I work every night in a lab underneath my house concocting nefarious plans to take over the world.

You should message me if

You like to smile.
You think suspenders > belts.
You want a karaoke friend.
You have a compulsion to talk with me.

You know the songs I quoted from in my "description"...
