My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I've been living and working in Shanghai for over a year. In general, I'm a nerd, am curious about almost everything and absolutely love to learn. I'm also an avid traveler, and one of my life goals is to set foot on every continent (only Oceania and Antarctica remain).

Aside from that, living in Shanghai is a crazy and awesome adventure, and I love every minute of it (except perhaps during rush hour on the subway, or when the street monkey on Yongfu Lu jumps on me).
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
This question seems to merit some type of philosophical response. Unfortunately, nothing like that is really coming to mind. Basically I have no idea what I'm doing with my life. I moved to Shanghai on 2 weeks notice after getting a job opportunity that I never saw coming. I rapidly got rid of most of my belongings and moved here with one luggage case of clothes and a backpack with my computer. Since then, I've been working, exploring Shanghai and enjoying all the random crazy adventures that life here entails.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Learning (although the Mandarin language is proving to be extremely challenging), asking questions, listening to people and just simply being myself regardless of the situation.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm actually not too sure...I've never made a point of asking anyone about this
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
TV Shows: I haven't owned a TV for over 10 years, so I don't watch a lot. However, I download the following: Dr. Who, Game of Thrones, True Blood, The Daily Show, Real Time with Bill Maher

Books: I tend to lean more towards favorite authors than books. For fiction, I would have to go with Douglas Adams and Salman Rushdie. For non-fiction I would say Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Niall Ferguson, Ayaan Hirsi Ali etc. (there are too many to name). My non-fiction reading list has been more oriented towards economic history, business and investments.

Food: I'm pretty adventurous with food and will try almost anything once. But for an absolute favorite food, I'd have to go with either really great cheese or anything involving chocolate

Movies: I'll enjoy almost anything with a good story. The last movies I watched were Cloud Atlas, The Name of the Rose and The World According to Dick Cheney.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
The first thing that comes to mind would be water, shelter and food - but this is too boring a response. So I'm assuming that all basic necessities are covered. In this case, I would be unable to do without the internet, my computer, books, great wine, friendship and my passport
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I sometimes think that I spend too much time thinking about the world, but the notion quickly passes. I'm a very curious person by nature, and love learning and trying to understand the world around me. I think that we're living in a profoundly interesting time with the world changing more rapidly then ever. Usually I'm thinking about how and why the world is changing.

Then when I've pulled myself out of that mindset, I start thinking about all the places in the world I still haven't seen.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
There are no typical Friday nights in Shanghai. However, I am partial to finding a place for drinks or heading over to a jazz bar.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My favorite sport is Lawn Bowling, and the fact that there is nowhere to play in Shanghai is one of the only major pitfalls of living here.
