My Self-Summary
I'm geeky and kind of a technophile, but I have other interests too. I love ancient history and classic literature, poetry, philosophy, classical music, classic rock, and independent film. I also like math, board games, spirited debate, and anything else that stimulates the mind.
I have as much of a passion for the body is the mind; in particular I like to lift weights and run outdoors. I care about being fit, and I want other people to be fit too.
I'm fairly liberal in my outlook on life, but I appreciate the complexity of the human condition, so my opinions tend to be moderate and nuanced.
I enjoy the company of other people, but I also enjoy spending time by myself, just to reflect on things. There's a certain tension in that oscillation that accounts for much of the richness of experience.
One of the reasons I like a lot of independent films more than those Hollywood-manufactured.. whatever you want to call them―is that in these films I find ample opportunity to observe people in what seem to be moments of genuine indecision, where their pretensions are stripped away and they are laid bare. I would like to have more of those moments in my own life.
If you think we might get along, by all means drop me a line. If nothing else, I'm sure we'll at least have some interesting conversation. :)
