My self-summary
Hello, and thanks for stopping by! My friends describe me as a kind, intelligent, thoughtful person. I am quick to smile and make light of serious situations, and I have a quirky sense of humor. I keep things simple whenever possible. I really like the outdoors (where I feel at peace) and being active, as well as staying in at home to just chill and unwind. I'm not really into the whole drinking/club scene, but I do enjoy going to dive bars for a trivia night or to cheer for one of my favorite sports teams. Some of my particular interests include: hiking, board games (my favorites are Scattegories, Loaded Questions, and Apples 2 Apples), science (especially psychology and astronomy), geocaching, reading, video games, tennis, running, catching up on my tv shows, crossword puzzles, and any stimulating mental challenges (math problems, puzzles, riddles.. love em!). Some would also say that I am a bit of nerd, and I would be inclined to agree with them, as I do enjoy some typical "nerd" things. I even started a Nerd Club at my school, and our weekly meetings are one of my favorite parts of my week!
What I’m doing with my life
I am in my second year as a full time math teacher for a high school in Watts.

I also just finished my Masters in Education in Urban Areas at UCLA, making it my 7th straight year at UCLA (obligatory GO BRUINS!).
I’m really good at
Math, not giving up when looking for free parking, picking the wrong line at the grocery store, making really bad/awesome jokes, Words with Friends/Scramble with Friends, sudoku
The first things people usually notice about me
People say I smile a lot. Some people also say I can be a bit quiet/shy when you first meet me, but I definitely get more comfortable quickly.

The six things I could never do without
1. My relationships with family and friends. Couldn't live without them.
2. Cookies
3. Laughter. Especially those uncontrollable fits of laughter where you can barely breathe. Those are the best :)
4. A good book to read and a good show to watch.
5. Learning new things.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What do I need to lesson plan

What my next move will be in Words with Friends

What I want my backyard to look like when I get a house.
On a typical Friday night I am
By the end of the work week I'm honestly usually pretty tired, and have been known to knock out. After a good nap though, I'm up for anything!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
1. I really like dinosaurs and my favorite animal is the velociraptor.

2. I also hiccup an abnormal amount. And it's not like sets of hiccups, it's individual ones that come randomly.

3. I sing in my car a lot. If the radio doesn't have a song I know the words to, sometimes I'll just turn it off and start singing with no music.

4. I hate missing a line when I'm watching a new show/movie, and I will rewind it every time. I also hate spoilers, and will go to great lengths to avoid them.

5. After reading a book for an extended period of time, I'll begin to narrate my own life in my head after I put it down, in the style of the book I was just reading. Like, "Andrew set down his book on the nightstand, and looked at the time. It was 11:24pm, and he was debating whether or not it was too late to enjoy some cookies and milk, one of his favorite snacks. He decided against his better judgment to indulge in the sweets, and walked into the dark kitchen..." And that keeps going on in my head for a while.

6. I think "That's what she said" jokes are hilarious. I have to act serious when my students make them though.

7. I make automatic Harry Potter references in daily life.

8. I definitely have a hopeless romantic side, and I hope whoever I end up with has one too.
I’m looking for
  • Straight girls only
  • Ages 23–28
  • Near me

You should message me if
You are someone who is genuinely kind, has a good heart, intelligent, can laugh at themselves and my attempts at jokes, is always down for an adventure or just staying in, shares similar interests.. I'm not asking for much, right? :P

I suppose it makes sense at this point to list some of the things I am NOT looking for..
- someone who wants me to "handle" or "keep up with" them (I've seen this on enough profiles to make me put this in here.. I have trouble enough keeping up with 150 students, I don't need more of this from a potential partner!)
- someone who smokes
- or likes pointless drama
- someone who has one or more of their profile pictures with their cleavage as its main focus
- if you are holding an alcoholic beverage in over 50% of your profile pictures
