My self-summary
Thanks for dropping by.

I can make you laugh every day. Okay, some of those days you’ll be laughing at me instead of with me but you’re still laughing!

I'm a good conversationalist and an excellent listener.

Surrounding myself with others who are also open to exploring new experiences is important to me. Checking out new restaurants, or revisiting familiar favorites, is always fun. Sunday brunch is best followed by a peaceful drive up the coast.

I like checking out open studios and am interested in modern art and photography. I'm just as comfortable at a poetry reading or the ballet as I am at a punk rock show or soccer game.

Having lived in Salem, Medford and Cambridge, I moved back to Salem and bought a condo three years ago because I missed being near the ocean. I don’t always take advantage of it but it’s nice to know a short walk can bring tranquility.

Travel is something I haven’t done nearly enough of! I just got back from a trip to Ireland last May and loved every second of it! Next trip? Paris? Italy? London? Hawaii? Any suggestions?

Music is a passion of mine; I used to work in the music business and can talk about it forever if asked. I was a radio DJ, nightclub DJ on Lansdowne Street, and even wrote the occasional record review for the Boston Phoenix. I work in textbook publishing these days. Eight and a half years ago I was asked to come in to my current company for what was supposed to be a two week job testing to make sure their products were accessible for students with disabilities and have been working there ever since.

Oh, and in the interest of full disclosure, I accomplished all of this while living with a rare congenital condition that impacts one in every 3,000 people called AMC. It’s best characterized by stiff joints and abnormally developed muscles. Basically, my arms just don’t look like yours, unless you’re another lucky one in 3,000! ;) This has never prevented me from accomplishing most things in life that I’ve set my mind to. Of course, I did want to play in the NBA but I think a lack of height might have something to do with why that didn’t exactly work out. I find the best way to face obstacles is with humor and defiance, I am the little acorn that became the 5’5” giant oak! Ha! While this is part of my life, it’s not ALL of my life. So far I’ve had a great life with some successful relationships and some unsuccessful ones just like you, hopefully. I will answer any and all of your questions regarding this but I ask you please be respectful in the way you phrase them, you’d be surprised! Oh, and you'll love me around the holidays because I get all the cool parking spaces! ☺

I have many great stories to tell, just ask.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I loved a flawed character. Someone who despite their obvious mistakes and errors in judgment you can still get behind and root for. Writers such as Richard Russo, Nick Hornby and David Sedaris are particularly adept at creating characters you can't help but embrace. Here are a few of my favorite books - Empire Falls and Bridge of Sighs by Richard Russo, A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, High Fidelity and Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby, Basketball Diaries by Jim Carroll, Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris

Favorite movies - High Fidelity, Bowling for Columbine, Fargo, The Omen I & II, Shawshank Redemption, the Bourne trilogies, Jaws, the Point (Major bonus points if you know what that is), 24 Hour Party People, Once, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich, Radio Days, Basquiat, the Station Agent

Favorite TV (old) - MASH, Young Ones, X Files, Homicide: Life on the Street, St Elsewhere, Iconoclasts

Favorite TV (current) - Boardwalk Empire, The Newsroom, Californication, Independent Lens, Chronicle, Tanked, PhotoXplorer

Favorite music - REM, Silversun Pickups, National, Deathcab for Cutie, Tame Impala, Pond, Waterboys, World Party, Beth Orton, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Clash, Jam, Sebadoh, Elliott Smith, Nick Drake, Smiths, the the, Cure, Bowie, Eels, Wilco, Billy Bragg, Pixies, Neil Young, Mumford & Sons, Hendrix, Ella, early U2, Sonic Youth, Sonic Death Monkey, I could go on and on and on.

Favorite food - if someone could create a salmon chocolate lasagna served with a Guinness, I'd be in heaven!
The six things I could never do without
Arizona Green Tea, Newman's Own Lemonade, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Guinness, music, camera
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the great American novel that I will someday write.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends or kicking back and relaxing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I got stung by a wasp sent from God for being an atheist at a Catholic Marion Center in Ireland and it REALLY hurt. But I didn't cry!
