My self-summary
inveterate polymath.

i am currently, or have been at some point, a musician, motorcyclist, photographer, very amateur opera singer, paragliding pilot, muay thai fighter, climber of rocks, wine nerd, and computer geek

gimme food (from the russian tea room to ray's candy store and everything in between), travel (the weirder the better, been looking for someone to come to Chernobyl with me for a while now), music (i love summer music in nyc...free shows and rad events everywhere!), and going outside...let's go out and do stuff! lets run, ride bikes, skateboard, or just loiter around a cafe looking unsavory.

so......unsavory >_>
What I’m doing with my life
what are you, my mother?
I’m really good at
- intentional awkwardness
- stringed instruments, predominately bass
- video game nerdery
- insomnia (i'm REALLY good at this...)
- (parentheses)
- putting ice on injuries
- UNIX (hey, it pays the bills)
The first things people usually notice about me
nobody's ever run up to me and exclaimed "hey i just noticed ________ about you!!!!!!"

so i assume the first thing people notice about me is either totally unremarkable or really really really embarrassing.

edit: i've had one person describe their initial impression of me. she said she felt i had an underdeveloped sense of self-preservation.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books: anything by terry pratchett, various classics (the count of monte cristo, the jungle, etc.), cormac mccarthy's brilliant, desperate stories. roald dahl and the scary stories to tell in the dark series ruled my childhood and i love to occasionally revisit them in a fit of nostalgia. reading some pratchett at the moment.

tv: i once made a grooveshark playlist of all the musical acts to appear on The Young Ones and i think Deadwood is possibly the best thing ever to have appeared on TV

movies: just finished watching the Tom Hanks existential tour de force Joe Vs. The Volcano

music: the entire gamut from mario del monaco to the misfits, with pit stops along the way for pantera, band of horses, ted leo (with or without the pharmacists), battles, weezer, toots and the maytals, krishna das, sepultura, the new pornographers, gogol bordello skátar, clap your hands say yeah, fear, zombie ghost train, MOD/SOD (i once shared a stage with billy milano and he's fatter in real life), dance hall crashers, the toasters, elvis costello, desmond dekker, dexy's midnight runners (that is meant to be neither joking nor ironic...they've got crazy soul), the clash, titta ruffo, descendents, the police, madness, they might be giants, dead kennedys, slayer, a place to bury strangers, the tossers, rancid, the ramones, charlie parker, atom and his package, bim skala bim, cancerslug, the dubliners, bill withers, clutch, frank sinatra, wesley willis, louis armstrong, gandul matei, bon iver, rogue wave, sham 69, as much as i hate to admit it...kiss, Luciano Pavarotti, we were promised jetpacks, 311, the specials, quicksand, the mighty mighty bosstones, hall & oates in a non-ironic and reasonably nostalgic way. the first two cassettes i listened to with any regularity growing up were hall & oates and pointer sisters tapes. "neutron dance" is a goddamn hit, i don't care what anyone says

food: i'll eat anything and like damn near everything! whale in iceland, black bear in romania, and most recently alpaca and cuy (guinea pig) in peru. i look forward to eating weirder stuff during future excursions.

except mushrooms. fuck everything about mushrooms.
The six things I could never do without
* passport
* a haircut, once in a while...i don't look good with long hair
* music
* vietnamese coffee with condensed milk
* my e-reader...so many books in such a little space...
* bicycle/motorcycle/skateboard/rollerblades/anything with wheels that isn't a car
I spend a lot of time thinking about
and the photoblog i've been running for a while now: nyfac.es
On a typical Friday night I am
doing something incredibly mind-blowingly awesome.

every friday.

guaranteed.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
the highlight of my one and only trip to las vegas was Circus Circus. i had hoped so hard that it was as bizzare and desperately weird as the scene in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas made it out to be. i was not let down. that joint is seriously fucking wierd.

i know, that's not very private. tough. if you want the good stuff, you need to put a little more work in.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 18–99
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
* you're awesome
* you're into rock climbing and want a new buddy to climb with...or you've never gone rock climbing and want to try it out
* you think "neutron dance" is a fucking hit and you don't care what anyone else thinks.
* you want to help me practice my ASL
* you want to start a Hall & Oates cover band with me
* you're IN a Hall & Oates cover band and need a bassist
* you want to make out on a park bench like a couple of teenagers. even if it's cold out...actually, that'd be better because then we could both wear parkas with big furry hoods and it would be like a tent with just our faces in it. a furry tent.
