My self-summary
I've recently been told that I'm "unmatchable." I think quirky and weird were also used....but either way....I'll give this a valiant effort.

My name is P.J. I'm pretty laid back, ok, really laid back and I have a strong dislike for drama. I'm a librarian by trade.

I like doing all of the obvious things, like eating out, going to new and unusual dive bars, playing and winning (sometimes) at trivia, building really odd things (I just built a catapult), playing Wii, watching movies and listening to good music.

So, yes, I'm a little odd, eclectic and fly by the seat of my pants most of the time but I'd like to think that I'm a nice guy at heart.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm making the best of my life like most people do and trying to make it as a grown up but hey, I'm only human and mess up from time to time. I work a lot, don't sleep much and like to cut loose on the weekend.
I’m really good at
being sarcastic and funny. I seem to be freakishly good at being a smart ass but I can get serious when I need to. I'm good a being honest and telling it the way it is. I'm good a falling down and injuring myself even when I'm sober.
The first things people usually notice about me
My very blue eyes. I'd like to think that I'm easy on the eyes but I'm sure people also notice my laugh and my intelligence.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: All Tolkien, all of the time. Yes, I read a lot of sci-fi, fantasy and enjoy comic books (or are they called graphic novels now?), but I do like a good book, like Catcher in the Rye and most Cormac McCarthy books. I read a lot all day so reading is the last thing I want to do at night, but I do enjoy it. Neil Gaiman is the best!

Movies: I watch a lot of movies and go to the movies frequently. I last saw the Wolf of Wall Street at the theater and it was awesome as only Martin Scorcese can do. I like the Bourne movies, Inception was awesome, The Social Network appealed to me because David Fincher directed it, Fight Club (another Fincher film), anything Coen Brothers (No Country for Old Men), mostly anything sci-fi and dare I say it, even the Harry Potter movies. I like older movies too, like The Godfather, the Conversation, The Deer Hunter and lots of others from the early 70's and 60's. I have a hang up about subtitles and black & white though.

Music: I could go on forever....and I just might, but in no certain order.....ABC, Marc Almond, Animal Logic, The Shins, Broken Bells, The Art of Noise, Anything Box, B-52's, Bauhaus, The Beatles, Blondie, Beloved, Blur, Bronski Beat, The Call, The Church, The Cure, Eric Clapton, Coldplay, The Cult, Dada, Dead Can Dance, Dead or Alive, Depeche Mode, Dido, Duran Duran, The Durutti Column, Elastica, Electronic, Erasure, Fleetwood Mac, Filter, Garbage, Gordon Lightfoot, Harry Chapin, Joe Henry, House of Love (bonus points if you've ever heard them), INXs, Information Society, Jesus Jones, Cyndi Lauper, The Killers, Keane, Annie Lennox, Live, Love & Rockets, Lush, Madonna, Sarah McLachlan, Aimee Mann, Paul McCartney (and occasionally Wings), Midnight Oil, Mojave 3, Morrissey, The Smiths, Peter Murphy, New Order, NIN, Oasis, Orb, Pet Shop Boys (lots of PSB), Pink Floyd, The Police, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rush, Sade, Seal, Johnny Cash, Matthew Sweet, The Shamen, The The (one of my favs), U2, World Party, The Verve, Xymox, Yaz, The Decemberists, Donna Summer, The Eagles, Foo Fighters, Glen Cambell...

I know I've forgotten some but that's the best I could do from memory. And, yes, I like newer music but I'm not a big fan of rap.

Yes, I like food. As long as I don't get food poisoning and die, I will eat it. The spicier, the better. Truth be told, I could live off pizza every day and night of the week but I keep it interesting.
The six things I could never do without
More than six and in no particular order...

Good beer....or bad beer, for that matter...
My iPhone
Water (preferably from a bottle)
The ability to travel and/or vacation
Maybe some clean air to inhale (helpful to survival)
The InterNets

Realistically, I could life without those but I don't have to at this point.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
um, sad to say, nothing much. Nothing profound at least. I think about world peace, why there are no pictures of Bin Laden's death, why that possum ran out in front of me this morning on my way to work, tomorrow's weather, the next song on iTunes and how many hours until I can leave work.

I do think a lot but it's not usually profound.
On a typical Friday night I am
I have my daughter on a couple Friday nights per month and she's awesome but I don't have her every weekend. Her and I usually find some kind of trouble to get into when we are together. When she's not there, I may hit a bar with friends, watch a movie or go see some music. The world is my oyster and I don't limit myself on Friday night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
- I have never ever watched Big Bang Theory.
- I know and can sing all 6 minutes and 32 seconds of "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot.
You should message me if
- You can appreciate my quirkiness and my sense of humor.
- You are reasonably intelligent and can hold a conversation for more than 1 minutes and 26 seconds.
- You believe that the human head weighs 8 pounds or thereabout.
