My self-summary
Hello, lady or gentleman casually browsing my profile! I'm Iain. Thanks for clicking on my picture! Unfortunately the bit where you get to make an easy intuitive judgement based on a thumbnail and a percentage is over and NOW YOU MUST READ BORING WORDS. I know, right?

So, me. I'm tall and blond, with a long-hair-and-beard combo that make me look like I ought to be frontman of a Scandinavian metal band (one day!). I'm pretty quiet and laid back, on the whole, and I don't have much time for disliking people. My sense of humour is a bit of an acquired taste - dry, ironic, playfully mocking. I generally reserve it for people I already know quite well, though, so you're probably safe for a little while.

Here are some things I like: board games, cooking, whisky, walking, folk metal, cats, museums, wildernesses, tea, sugar, speculative fiction, Rube Goldberg machines, campfires.
What I’m doing with my life
Well, the two things I spend most time on are bossing computers around professionally and sleeping. Recently I've been getting involved in effective altruism, and am spending an increasing amount of time doing things related to that as well. I promise not to go on about that too much unless you ask me.
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair's been getting a lot of compliments recently. I think the word "lustrous" has been used?
The six things I could never do without
The internet, books, other people,a sense of adventure, my imagination.

Why have six things when you can make do with five?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
One of the few things I consider valuable enough to be worth owning (I'm a fairly serious minimalist) is a cuddly toy dolphin I've owned since I was yea high. Would never consider getting rid of him, don't even care.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 21–35
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
Frankly, if you haven't made up your mind by this point I don't know what to tell you. You should definitely message me if you are good at interesting first date ideas, though. As far as I'm concerned, you have a good chance of face time if you suggest either a game or something outdoors :)
