Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
tradition apparently states i must begin this with some sort of
statement to the effect that i'm not very good with self-summaries.
so here goes - i'm not very good with self-summaries. ahem.
i'm a pretty quiet but often overly excitable type who moved to
Montreal for the music scene / the european grungyness (if that
makes sense?) and to try and find a bit more of a balance between
work, socialising, social causes, research (i have a piece of paper
that says I'm an ecologist), and other things i haven't yet
discovered in this great city - the last few years have been
alternating between travel and working 60, 70 hour weeks to make
that travel happen and I'm a bit over that for now and looking for
a more relaxed way of being.
i enjoy seeing loud poppy punk bands, body-modification, late night
explorations, a beverage or three, critters great and small (well,
mostly small) and being in the so-called 'great outdoors', i.e. -
basically a big smelly lefty who likes human and animal rights,
low-cost travelling and vegan cooking. however, according to
okcupid, i am a druggy foul-mouthed sexed-up cold-hearted
super-indie-kid. go figure.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
fleasearch! its like regular research but with more fleas. not
really sure where that will lead or i want it to lead, but its what
i want to do now. that and trying to live ethically along the way
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
filling out empty essays apparently. that and financially ruining
myself with travel and tattoos.

that i'm not a fish. which is good, because technically they don't
exist. which is confusing, but that's what the taxonomy people say.

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
oxygen, metabolic enzymes, various carbon-based molecules, the
ozone layer, gravity, combustion processes.
less literally... coffee, critters, bands, the lads and lasses (and
non-lad-non-lasses) whom i collectively called friends, my

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
how it always seems I'm dragging my feet with getting on with the
science thing whenever i hang out with my PhDing friends, but how
it always seems that working unrelated odds-and-ends jobs,
travelling and seeing bands is a fantastic lifestyle whenever i
hang out with my non-PhDing friends. there must be a way to combine
those two, possibly by becoming Milo from the descendants.
apart from that, conservation causes, how to combine research with
practical "getting stuff done" conservation, predeterminism (i just
read war and peace...), the random ways in which you meet people
who are important to you, human relationships
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
alive and concious, combusting simple sugars with oxygen in my
attempt to raise global CO2 levels... this normally occurs at shows
