I am light-hearted, laid-back, and level-headed.

My Self-Summary

Happy, creative, kind of a Buddha. I love working and I love not working. Either way, I give it my all. Family and friends are important to me (I have a great group of friends), but I also really enjoy just chilling out on my own. I'm less often the one to suggest doing something fun and more often the one spontaneous enough to do whatever someone else suggests. My sense of humor is part edgy adolescent, part dry wit. I have a deep appreciation for artists and the arts--especially theater, dance and writing.

What I’m doing with my life

I edit commercials and make short films with my friends on the side.

I’m really good at

listening, being honest (but tactful), making people laugh, making myself laugh, rolling with it, arguing if that's what you're into or telling you you're right so we can both just go to bed

The first things people usually notice about me

Possibly my "HA!" belly laugh, which is the sincerest way I can communicate that you've said something funny--although, I try to not let that be the first thing someone notices about me if I'm at a funeral.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

TV: Lost, Family Guy, So You Think You Can Dance (yeah, seriously), The Office, 30 Rock; I watch Curb, Entourage, True Blood and Big Love but only after they've lived on my DVR a while, because really, they move pretty slow for my taste... and don't get me started on Heroes.

Movies: Willow, Top Secret, Trainspotting, Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas, Matrix, Fight Club, Being John Malkovich (originality goes a long way with me), American Beauty, Requiem For A Dream, City Of God, Thin Red Line, Children Of Men,

Books: I went through a big Kurt Vonnegut and Tom Robbins phase but now just read anything people recommend. Last book I read was World War Z (eh), and before that, The Road (pretty bleak guys... pretty bleak)

Music: Viva Voce, Turin Brakes, Dandy Warhols, Radiohead, Menomena, Ingrid Michaelson, Mazzy Star, The National, South, 22-20s

Food: sushi (especially the americanized specialty rolls), Half-Baked ice cream, duck, turkey sandwiches, anything prepared with love...

The six things I could never do without

Without taking this question too literally...

A computer--because, let's face it, it rules our lives.
A comfortable place to sleep
The ability to laugh

Until I come up with three more things, let's just multiply the importance of the above three things by two.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

short film ideas, my place in the universe, and, if I'm being totally honest, sex.

On a typical Friday night I am

out with friends or chilling at home, recovering from Thursday night

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

When I was a little boy, my mom taught me to whisper "psh psh psh psh" to myself if I was trying to pee but nothing was coming out. It was a pre-car-ride ritual. Cut to age 14 and I'm about to go at a urinal in the boy's bathroom, when my stuffy old science teacher sidles up to the urinal next to me. For the first time in my adolescent life, it was like someone turned off the hose and I couldn't go. I guess he couldn't either, because we were both standing there for what felt like ages. Finally, recalling my childhood trick, I ever so softly started whispering "psh psh psh psh psh psh psh psh..." He turned his head slowly and gave me a disturbing look, but I'll be damned if the hose hadn't been turned back on.
