My Self-Summary
I've spent a long time being sober and serious (and alliterative),
and I'm learning to be less so. I'm cynical, skeptical, and not
easily embarrassed. I'm kind of shy when I don't know people, but I
love being the center of attention. I feel like this is the point
in the profile that I'm supposed to toss in some small, unexpected
fact to make it clear that I don't take this too seriously, so,
here goes: I've never had a cavity, but that isn't because I'm
fanatically devoted to oral hygiene. I'm just lucky.

What I’m doing with my life
Um, living it? This one is kind of an odd category. I feel like
people who have found a purpose for their lives are supposed to put
that here, and those who are searching for that purpose are
supposed to say so. For people who don't fit into either of those
categories, the question seems to encourage a happy-go-lucky,
good-time kind of attitude. To be honest, I think it says a lot
about me that I've avoided answering this question completely by
analyzing what I think its purpose is.
But, if you want a boring answer, here goes: I've been a university administrator for the past 8 years; I like to read British fiction, science books, and books about baseball; and I love hanging out at bars with my friends.

I’m really good at
spelling. I guess there are a few other things I'm good at--word
games, board games, listening, public speaking. I'm also good at
most intellectual pursuits. I'm really good at learning languages,
including learning two of them well enough that native speakers
couldn't tell I'm American.
The first things people usually notice about me
One of the first things that people notice about me is my eyes,
because they're an unusual shade of blue. Personality-wise, people
notice very quickly that I have a sarcastic sense of humor and I
know how to put them at ease with it.

The six things I could never do without
There aren't six specific things that I can't live without, but
three things that pop to mind are Cheerios, my cats, and sex.

My mind wanders and I think about a lot of different things. When I
sleep, I have boring dreams, so I seem to make up for that when I'm
awake by trying to make everyone's day a little more surreal.

On a typical Friday night I am
Generally doing one of three things: hanging out at a bar with
friends, working out at the gym, or watching a movie. On rare
occasions, I knit. That's kind of hard to do at home because the
cats are always trying to "help."
