What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I was born in Moscow, immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 7, grew up (and left my heart in) Boston, and became a DC person in late 2012.

My family story is complicated -- ask me about it sometime! -- but the upshot is that my closest friends are like the extended family I don't have. They're mostly back in Boston, and I've been missing them a lot since moving here. This making-friends-as-an-adult business is tricky.

Fortunately, I tend to fall in love with cities easily (past loves include Prague, Berlin, Saint Petersburg, Bishkek, and most recently Vilnius), so exploring a place like DC keeps me busy. It's a beautiful city, and there's plenty to see. Preferably by bike.

In general, what I want to do with my life? Find fulfillment in my career and joy in my relationships, raise a family, and leave this world a little better than I found it.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I read and type faster than you, but I probably have a shorter attention span. I think I read people well, and I'm good at both empathy and sympathy. I'm good at conversation, but not so good at being patient with people who are not so good at it. I'm good at expressing my feelings, at least the ones I admit to myself. Maybe not so good at keeping my mouth shut when it would be wise to do so. I'm good at being curious and getting excited about things -- less good at following through in the long term. Especially when it's hard! I'm good at quitting smoking, having done it a bunch. This latest time seems to have stuck, more or less. I'm great at being a pleasant drunk (very friendly and gregarious) but despite literally years of practice, I'm still not good at beer pong. I'm good at becoming enthusiastic about most things you might be enthusiastic about, but not so good if it's sports or cars. I have good social skills, but sometimes I need other people to also be energetic and enthusiastic so I can feed off of them, otherwise I get exhausted. If I love you, I'm good at showing it. But I don't seem to be as good at falling in love as I once was!

This question feels a little too ego-strokey.

I'd rather just paste some of my favorite quotes. Each one says something about me or something about what I believe.

From wandering on a foreign strand?"

A maggot-minded, starved, fanatic crew
God gave a secret, and denied it me?

I'll list my favorite shows, since I watch TV extremely sparingly and I'm proud of my taste: Six Feet Under, Arrested Development, King of the Hill, Newsradio, Peep Show, and The Office.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My bike, my music collection, the Russian language, my close-knit group of high school friends, sriracha, and living in a walkable city.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?

If your answer is some variant of "sometimes I like to stay in but sometimes I like to go out," then I hate your profile.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Everyone on here comes off as way too fucking self-assured. I'm going to go ahead and say that I don't always have my shit 100% together. You can admit it, too! It's much more important to be real about it. Sometimes we feel fragile and vulnerable and that's okay.

For what it's worth, I believe that exchanging vulnerabilities is the realest way to get close to someone.
