My self-summary
I went to school here, left for a bit, now I'm back. It's a passing phase though. There's far too much to see and experience for me to stay in one place. I've been bitten by the travel bug and as a result am feeling a bit too antsy to stay in such a familiar place for too long. EDIT: except it is 2 YEARS later I'm still here... but I hope I'm gone in June. SE Asia is in my sights.

When I'm being the person I want to be:
I enjoy being active, but I rather dislike the gym. I have a car, but I bike whenever and wherever I can. I chose my car not for aesthetics, luxury, or power; but rather for fuel-economy and the benefit of being able to run it on fuel made from waste cooking oil. I love all food, but I'm trying to substantially cut back on my consumption of commercial meat. I am now very seriously trying to quit smoking, but if/when I do break down I roll my own.

But in truth:
It's all a lie. I'm lazy. My bio-fuel coop membership has long since lapsed. I'm now back to eating meat with abandon despite my ethical misgivings (re: I'm lazy). And I am again a regular smoker, though I do still roll my own. Stockholm Blend.
What I’m doing with my life
..figuring it out. My goal isn't to make money. My goal isn't to become the top of my prospective field. My goal isn't to raise a family in an idyllic stepford environment. I'll let you know what my goal is as soon as I discover it.

I do know I have a general interest in travel, cuisine and sustainable living & agriculture. Once upon a time I considered myself a traveler. A student of the world. Spent a year WWOOFing and hitch-hiking much of Western Europe. In the middle chapter of a mildly entertaining novel I called Life. Well the author seems to be suffering from writer's block because the story hasn't been too terribly interesting as of late. Here's to hoping he can figure his shit out and realize a few more adventures before it's too late.
I’m really good at
climbing trees. I can climb trees like nobody's business. And riding my bicycle hands free. And falling for all the wrong girls. And sometimes making surprisingly tasty things whilst improvising in the kitchen.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm laid back, light-hearted, extremely liberal and a bit of a nerd.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
So far as books go, I tend to prefer contemporary fiction. Notable authors include Haruki Murakami, David Foster Wallace, Max Brooks, William Gibson, Neil Gaiman, Walter Miller Jr., George R. Stewart, Kurt Vonnegut, William S. Borroughs, and many others. I'm also a fan of epic graphic novels and comic series such as Sandman, 100 Bullets, The Walking Dead, Preacher, The Boys, Y: The Last Man, Fables, Transmetropolitan, etc etc.

I don't really want to rattle off a list of movies that appear on virtually every other list of favorites. So I'll simply generalize. I love Kubrick and Coppola classics, Bill Murray, zombie flicks (both big-budget productions and B-flick senseless gore), and I even love stupid contemporary comedies (i.e. Judd Apatow stuff, Happy Gilmore/Billy Madison, Grandma's Boy, Hangover, etc). I love the classic western epics, Serenity (and most certainly the series Firefly), Michel Gondry, and Wes Anderson. I highly enjoy Charlie Kaufman and I'm a shameful sap for both Garden State and Lost in Translation. The Coen Brothers are of course amazing, and The Big Lebowski appears somewhere in my top 5 fav films. I could keep going. There are simply too many films to cover.

Lately, I've been listening to new alternative hip hop more often than not - a$ap rocky, das racist, kendrick lamar, danny brown, jay electronica, clams casino, diplo/major lazer. Other various bands of note - grouper, neon indian, wild nothing, little girls, puro instinct, grimes, pavement, dr. dog, archers of loaf, guided by voices, the notwist, boards of canada, fuck buttons, dan deacon, animal collective, beirut, arcade fire, nas, busdriver, j. cole, wu-tang, mos def, bob dylan, grizzly bear, wolf parade, elliott smith, explosions in the sky, god speed!, modest mouse, radiohead, santogold, and so on and so forth.

Food. Man... I love food. Seriously. I have a rather adventurous and accommodating palate. I love trying new things and I need variety in my diet.
The six things I could never do without
Music.
The outdoors.
Variety and novelty.
Fresh fruits and veggies.
The night sky.
Fun.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
trying to save up enough to run away again.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working. I wait tables and tend bar. I work every Friday night.

Or out drinking, catching a show, chilling in. I guess I've been in more than out lately.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I was once abducted. I'm in love with an alien. She's galaxies away and inaccessible to me. God, it hurts like hell.

Also, now she's abducting some dude named Eduardo. Fuck Eduardo. Seriously. Fuck that guy.

Look, I'm going to be honest. I don't often send or reply to messages. And I haven't really updated my profile in months. Except for this. This is an update. And it's fairly recent. I promise.
