My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
hey you guys! allow me to introduce myself. i'm mark. i've been living in sf for 10 years. originally from michigan (don't really understand how it is that there's still people there). i could pretend to know something about sports, but would be exposed as a fraud immediately. more into music, painting, reading, i actually have a really good life. have made some good decisions. have made some bad ones too. but overall, i'm pretty happy with my life.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
i'm a social worker for the city. it's sort of a calling.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
making smoothies, pie and pancakes. making up nicknames for people, neologisms, inventing lost billie idol records, making french toast, planning field trips, breaking dishes. my job. reading entire wikipedia pages of pop artists.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
"he's soooo dreamy!"
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
reading: cesar aira
listening: big star's #1 record, old punk rock, divorced mom music, blues
watching: broad city (love!), unbreakable kimmy schmidt
food: i eat a lot! my metabolism is stupid. like, in a famine i would be the first to go. sometimes i have to get up in the middle of the night and make an entire meal. it's crazy.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) my trusty bicycle: that's how i go places
2) my job: gives me structure (i'd go nuts without my work routine), gives me money (i need that to buy food and stuff); and finally it gives me purpose (employs many of my talents and i get to do good)
3) exercise: i'm an insomniac without it
4) art: i need to consume and produce it
5) my family: i kinda owe them a lot
6) my friends: at least a couple times a week i get to tell people "everyone needs support" and your tax dollars pay for that
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
i fantasize about leading a spin class and the kick ass mix i would play.

also, i've been thinking about the possible unintended consequences of us all being constantly tethered to these little computers. i'm pretty sure it's not healthy.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
going to bed early. on a typical sunday night i go out for karaoke with friends. on a typical saturday i'm roller staking at that rink in redwood city that seems like its days are numbered.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
i'm kind of a dumb blond sometimes. for example, it wasn't that long ago that i discovered that kokomo is not a real place. also, narwhals are not a mythical creature. also (and this is just a random fact that i can't find a better place for) giant squids are real and no one has ever caught one. crazy world!
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
you are thoughtful (as in, full of thoughts)

you are curious about the world (as in, interested in all kinds of things. also, by the way, i tend to like people who have unusual or esoteric interests, passions or even obsessions. i find the whole "favorite books, music, tv" format kinda boring. there's so much more going on in the world!)

you have a running list of good karaoke songs on your computer-phone thing

you have a bleeding heart (i like people who are secretly up to good)

you take care of your relationships

you know how to be playful and spontaneous (like, you're still a kid at heart)

you are capable of a real, adult relationship should things move in the real adult relationship direction. i know, kinda contradicts the kid at heart thing. it's a lot to ask. hmm...
