My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi! I'm an outgoing, no-drama girl who makes friends easily. I live in Olympia and I love it here. I moved here in 2003 to go to Evergreen and decided to stay indefinitely.

I'm looking for someone who is compassionate, intelligent, stable, happy, healthy, and has at least some direction in life. In an ideal world, I'd like to find a life-long partner in crime because I feel most comfortable in stable, long-term relationships. In the meantime, I'll have fun playing the proverbial field. Cuddling is my biggest turn-on; cigarette smoking is my biggest turn-off. I don't give a shit if you smoke pot. Pot doesn't significantly decrease your lifespan. And it smells a hell of a lot better. I tend to go for scrawny flannel-clad boys on bikes, but I'm not going to rule anyone out based on physical characteristics. I love spending time outdoors doing things like hiking, biking, berry picking, mushroom hunting, and laying in the sun. I like to talk about comics, but if you only read comics about dudes in spandex beating each other up, we won't have a lot to talk about. I'm not into sci-fi or fantasy, either, with very few exceptions. I enjoy studying human sexuality, sex positivity, and I'm GGG (if you don't know what that means, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Savage_Love#GGG).
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm trying to make a living doing what I love - comics, illustration, and graphic design. So far, it's going better than I anticipated (my expectations were low) but it's not enough to pay the rent. Luckily, I have a day job and I'm probably the most frugal person you'll ever meet. I'm currently saving up to buy a house because I'd love to live someplace where I can have an art studio, awesome house shows, a garden, a cat, and rooms to rent out to friends.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I love to draw, doodle, and sketch. I can hand-draw maps that could make the angels sing. I'm great at sewing. I can do a one-handed cartwheel. I love to sing and play music. I'm pretty ok on guitar and kinda so-so on a myriad of other instruments, but I've spent years on vocal training and can sing anything from opera to karaoke tunes. Wanna do karaoke with me? Let's make it a date! I make friends easily. REALLY easily. People joke about how I know EVERYONE in town. You know how Olympia only has three degrees of separation? You can blame me for that. I know the name of every bone in the human body (and have since age 10). I'm great at soldering XLR cables. And I can eat more food than most people twice my size. No. Really. I average 3,000 calories a day. And I can make some damn fine burritos.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
People tend to notice my height, my long legs, and my fabulous ass. And once I open my mouth, they notice that I'm very friendly, jovial, and my sense of humor doesn't suck. I tend to strike a good balance between "cute as a button" and "total badass" - a peaceful harmony of feminine and masculine traits that leaves me saying, "Fuck you, traditional gender roles!"

A lot of people know me through my comics. I've drawn a comic strip diary since the end of 2008 without missing a single day.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
My favorite books tend to be either non-fiction or graphic novels. Or non-fiction graphic novels.

Comics I love:
Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
Blankets by Craig Thompson
Life in Hell by Matt Groening
American Born Chinese by Derek Kirk Kim
100 Demons by Lynda Barry
Any of Larry Gonick's non-fiction gems
Any of Chris Ware's depressing quasi-memoirs

"Regular" Books I love:
The Healing of America by T.R. Reid
Mad in America by Robert Whitaker
Catch 22 by Joseph Heller
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
The Hitchhiker's Guide series by Douglas Adams
Ethics for a New Millennium by the Dalai Lama
Anything by David Sedaris

I'm generally not big on TV/movie watching, but I have my moments. I like a lot of documentaries and science programs such as Cosmos (either Sagan or Tyson) and I love animation, especially Adventure Time and Gravity Falls. Wanna watch documentaries/cartoons with me? Let's make it a date! I also enjoy some things that are just silly (Red Dwarf, Monty Python, cats on YouTube) and I'm slowly working my way through all of the old Alfred Hitchcock Presents series.

When left to my own devices, I will listen to nothing but Bright Eyes and hits from the late 60's/early 70's
The Beatles
Donovan
The Association
The Mamas and the Papas
The Doors
CCR
The Zombies
Pink Floyd
and Simon & Garfunkle, to name a few.

But I also love
Iron and Wine
Death Cab for Cutie
The Postal Service
They Might Be Giants
Kimya Dawson
Joe Henderson
George Girshwin
The Faint
Rilo Kiley
Architecture in Helsinki
M83
Cursive
Destroyer
Red Fang
Eleanor Murray (an Olympia local - look her up!)
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
Miles Davis
Ben Folds
Cazwell
Johnny Cash
M.I.A.

I'm pretty open minded when it comes to music. I love going to house shows. I love discovering new music and I generally assume that everyone has better taste in music than I do because just about anything with a good beat will make my toes start tapping. The time and energy most people spend honing their musical tastes, I spent honing my comic book tastes.

I love to listen to podcasts. I subscribe to This American Life, the Savage Lovecast, Radiolab, and things of that ilk. I'm a fan of NPR and I also occasionally enjoy listening to books on tape.

Food is my favorite food. Unless it's onions. Onions don't count as food. I suspect I have some sort of allergy or sensitivity to them. I'm definitely allergic to maple syrup, and that torments me. Most of what I eat these days is vegetarian/vegan, but that's just because it's hard to find good meat in the Northwest and I have a vegan roommate with whom I share a lot of meals. I love Indian food, Japanese food, Thai food, Mexican food, Ethiopian food, soups, stews, you name it. I enjoy lengua, tripe, liver, and other odd meats. I once ate something so spicy, it gave me a nosebleed. I like to be adventurous. Wanna cook something together? Let's make it a date!
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Food
2. Adventures
3. Friends and family
4. My sketchbook
5. Cuddly cats
6. My bicycle (Her name is Shirley and she is beautiful. She's been in the family longer than I have.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Artsy-fartsy graphic novels, science (biology mostly), how to live to see my 100th birthday, feminist theory, kittens, and the Chernobyl disaster.

The OKC question that best sums up my personality is the one about "Which do you prefer: things that are good or things that are interesting?" I am solidly in the "interesting" category. "Good" things don't always make great stories, but "interesting" things, by definition, do.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I typically spend my Fridays making a delicious dinner with a few of my friends, or going to a good house show or dance party.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Just like 1 out of 3 women, I've been in an abusive relationship. I sometimes encounter weird hang-ups about certain things because of it, but I try hard to not let events from years ago prevent me from living my life today.

Also, I have a unicycle. I'm not very good at riding it; perhaps because I usually ride it when I'm tipsy.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
* you don't smoke - Smoking is a deal-breaker.
* you live within biking distance of Olympia - long distance relationships aren't my thing and it can be tricky to get around without a car.
* you're single - I'm not poly and I'm not an accomplice to cheaters.
* you don't have children - I'm not going to be their mommy.
* you're responsible and capable of taking care of yourself - I'm not going to be your mommy.
* you're intelligent - college education a plus - genuine curiosity about the world around you is a minimum.
* you believe in evolution - Fuck yeah, science!

When you message me, send me a vocab word. I get too many messages on here from guys who just copy and paste their initial messages and/or have obviously not read my profile. It'll let me know that you actually bothered to read this thing and, if nothing else, it'll be fun for me to learn new words. If you don't send a vocab word, I WON'T RESPOND. If you do, I promise I'll write back. Even if it takes me a while to get around to it.

Here; I'll go first. Taciturn. I would prefer not to date a man who is taciturn because I don't like to do all the talking.
