I am fun loving, creative thinking, and open minded.

My Self-Summary

I am the by-product of a Japanese mother and Scots-Irish father. I was born in Japan and lived there while I was just a pup. I grew up in a bilingual/multicultural household, so my love for both languages and culture are strong and prevalent to this day. I recently took a look at the passports that I've accrued over the years and I've got a total of 80+ visa stamps in all! Not too shabby, but I still have much to see.

Due to my background I believe that I'm very open minded and pretty much up for anything. Jump out of an airplane- "SURE! No problem." Eat a tarantula about the size of your fist- "Uhhhh, this is weird, but OK." Go swimming in the reefs of Tahiti - "Beeeeaaautiful!" Those are just snippets of randomness that will forever be etched in my memory. Life is all a grey area, full of surprises, and I am open to anything that will allow it to grow.

Check out my journal and read the rest of my profile. If you qualify under my "You should message me if..." list, then let's jump and see what happens. ;)

I’m really good at

photography. What's more important to me is that I really enjoy photography. One of the best things about it is that the focus it requires, the attention to detail, and the thought or creativity behind each shot allows me to escape from the daily distractions in life. So it's nice that I get to accomplish (at the very least) 2 things - 1) being able to create something beautiful and 2) allows me to truly step back and relax. I was able to post a photo in my journal, so I'll probably start posting every so often with a picture. So check that out and feedback is appreciated.

making people laugh. I think that this one is pretty important. Being able to enjoy a stress free life is key. Laughter plays an integral part in being able to achieve this goal. If I'm able to turn a bad day into a good one, then I've completed one aspect of being a true friend.

giving constructive criticism and/or coming up with solutions. I'm an engineer at heart - so I solve problems, and not just the nerdy kind! ;) I'd say that I'm a jack of all trades and that I'm smarter than the average bear, so for whatever reason, I really enjoy listening to any sort of situation and providing any input that I may have.

being open minded. I grew up in a multi-cultural family. I think it's safe to say that most of my friends are minorities. I've lived in multiple countries. I've traveled the world. All of this pretty much means that I've been fortunate enough to experience the many different cultures that the world has to offer. I think that the way I was raised, and what I've experienced has molded me into someone who is able to view a situation from multiple perspectives. Unfortunately, however, there is still so much more that I crave to see/learn/experience.

The first things people usually notice about me

Girls generally notice my hair, my eyebrows, and perhaps my hands. Every now and then I will grow my hair out (primarily for donating), and it's extremely straight and thick. I think the females get kinda jealous. I also have really thick eyebrows. Dunno if that's a good thing or not! haha. I dunno, but for whatever reason I always seem to get comments about my hands. I'm not really sure how to take the comments either since they are not very manly... "Oh wow, your hands are sooo soft" or "I think your hands might be softer than mine..." Of course these and various other comments are from girls as no straight guy would EVER make a comment pertaining to this!!

I'm not sure what guys notice about me. Guys rarely comment on each other let alone vocalize it. I'd say I'm fairly sociable and laid back, so I'm safe in saying that guys think I'm cool.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Movies - I have a wide array of movies that I enjoy. I'm not too fond of musicals, but I did enjoy Sweeney Todd, so perhaps I should give musicals another chance. I really enjoy foreign films as well as indies. Some of the foreign films that I own are: Y Tu Mama Tambien, Amelie, il Postino, Malena, Life is Beautiful, Princess Mononoke, Run Lola Run, City of God, and a handful of others. I'm picky about watching the movie in its native language vs. dubbed. Independent films include Pi, Requiem for a Dream (disturbing), Donnie Darko, Sling Blade, Crash, Little Miss Sunshine, American History X, Memento, The Machinist, Roger Dodger, among others. After looking at my list of Indies, I'm wondering what actually defines an independent film. Some of the movies are supposedly classified as indies, but are they really??

Food. I loooooove food. I will try anything at least twice. However, I must admit, the second time I try a tarantula, will be many many many years later! haha. Actually that and balut. Look up balut, because I don't want to even explain it here. One thing that I enjoy about Atlanta is the many different types of restaurants it has to offer. I never fear a "hole in a wall" because often times that is where you find the best food.

Places. I really enjoy traveling to other countries. I believe that the experience gained from visiting a country, meeting its people, engaging in their way of life molds me into a better, more well rounded individual. Top picks include: Siemreab, London, Montreal, and Prague.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What if I ____________ (insert crazy imagination/daydream)
Example: ...had kept my stock in bby, shorted yhoo or amzn, and invested those gains into a long term call of goog when it IPO'd. Or perhaps: ...sold all of my possessions and moved to Europe. Or even: ...was in a position to create a better society, a healthier environment, a world free from the evils that we face today...

I'd probably say that most of my thoughts exemplify the saying "hindsight is always 20/20." I wonder if that means I'm stuck in the past? Naah, I don't think so...the important thing to take away from it is that I've learned from it. Be it good or bad, I've grown as an individual.

On a typical Friday night I am

hanging out with friends, heading to the club/bar/lounge, catching a movie (out or in), or simply chillin' at the house. I won't be able to encompass all variables of what may go on on a Friday night for me, so put it this way...call me up, invite me out, and I'm down.

You should message me if

you like what you read/see.
you want to get to know me.
while reading my page curiosity overwhelms you.

Don't worry I won't bite, unless of course you ask me to ;)
