My self-summary
jack of all trades, master of a few. possessed of a wide variety of interests, friends and experiences. i use a lot of ellipses . . .

i love nerd culture and everything about it. Dragon*Con is my Christmas.

i am amazingly well-socialized, can carry on a conversation about nearly any topic, and get along with just about everyone i've ever met. :-)

(watch, i'm going to regret that last statement. next date: Klan meeting.)
What I’m doing with my life
i'm a front-end web developer - i've been doing that for about 10 years now. i work at a marketing firm in town and LOVE it.

i also have been DJing for 10+ years. i play at a couple of fine establishments around town. i highly enjoy making people do the dance.

i play kickball in a league, and have been playing pickup with the same group of people every week, year-round for 5+ years.
I’m really good at
relating to people . . . listening. nerding out. using ellipses . . . making and getting obscure references. dancing. trivia.
The first things people usually notice about me
i don't know what it is, but people are really inclined to talk to me . . . maybe it's my kind, welcoming demeanor. i'm like Burger King, inviting you to have a Whopper.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
my favorite authors:
douglas adams, jim butcher, robert e howard, weis & hickman, neil gaiman, patrick rothfuss

i'm a huge fantasy / sci-fi (mostly fantasy) book reader. like - i read a lot of books. not physically huge. i LOVE the Song of Fire and Ice series (what an awesome show, too), and "Ender's Game" by orson scott card. i also read a couple of urban fantasy authors - Rob Thurman, Kevin Hearne, Thomas Sniegoski.

i recently (well, in January) finished the last book of the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. epic, amazing ending to a series i've been reading for 12+ years.

some of my favorite movies:
the Conan films
Chungking Express
the original Star Wars trilogy
Intacto
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Clerks
Equilibrium
Spaceballs
Snatch
Kill Bill
Scott Pilgrim vs The World

lately: the last movie i saw in the theater was Edge of Tomorrow. Emily. Blunt.

i don't watch much TV, but when i do (DVR usually) i'm watching:
Game of Thrones
Walking Dead
Community
30 Rock
Parks and Recreation
The Office
Always Sunny
How I Met Your Mother
i do like Big Bang Theory on the basic level, but they kind of go over the top sometimes being "nerdy" . . .

i also really like comedy. BIG Mitch Hedberg fan (R.I.P.), Donald Glover, Aziz Ansari, George Carlin (R.I.P.), Barry Sobel, Anthony Jeselnik.

The Avatar cartoon series got me HOOKED (original and Korra). i keep up with my Bleach and Naruto, and will grab any good anime series that i come across. right now i'm watching Kill La Kill and Accel World.

music, wow, where do i start (yes i'm breaking the : format).

really, my interests go from Metallica (old stuff) to Enya (yeah i admit it) to A Tribe Called Quest. my FAVORITE groups of all time are: Cocteau Twins, Lush, the aforementioned Tribe Called Quest, Depeche Mode, and the Cure. i'm really into female vocalists, shoegaze, new wave . . . newer artists like MGMT, Crystal Castles, Little Boots . . . i started out my DJing (note: i do NOT DJ for a living!!!) playing hip hop and house, then branching to drum and bass / jungle for 9 years - nowadays i mainly play indie dance/electro, but you really should always expect a surprise! my musical landscape is really just ALL OVER THE PLACE. we'll have to talk.

or you can look here: http://www.last.fm/user/kyds3k

latest new (and "old" new) music:
Savages (cannot express enough my love of their album)
Still Corners
Mazzy Star's new album - on REPEAT
Midnight Juggernauts
CHVRCHES

i also made a KILLER old-school hip-hop mix on Spotify. Spotify RULES.

food:
anything my mom cooks (with the exception of rutabagas, BLEAH). i feel bad when i go to soul food restaurants, because i'm like "hmmm i could go to my folks' house and have this better . . ."

not a vegetarian but can appreciate the choice and i like vegetarian restaurants (Sunflower Cafe and Harmony especially).

some of my favorite restaurants in town are Argosy, El Myr, Eats, the Bookhouse - delicious! i like trying new places, as well. had some food from Villain's Wicked Subs for the first time and will be returning for sure! i love Asian foods (yes, I know the differences) too, though i'm a wimp when it comes to spicy things O_o i can man up if need be, though!

On a typical Friday night I am
Friday nights are usually up for grabs. dancing . . . art shows . . . karaoke? i do go out more often than not, but i'm trying to switch it up and do more Friend Activities. when i do go out, i really like sitting in a booth or a table at a bar, having some drinks and talking about life, the universe and everything. and dancing! always dancing.

last Friday: meet and greet party for a kickball tournament in Brooklyn.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
deep down, i have a huge, panic-inducing fear of dormice.
