My self-summary
jack of all trades, master of a few. possessed of a wide variety of interests, friends and experiences. i use a lot of ellipses . . .

i love nerd culture and almost everything about it. Dragon*Con is my Christmas.

i am amazingly well-socialized, can carry on a conversation about nearly any topic, and get along with just about everyone i've ever met. :-)

(watch, i'm going to regret that last statement. next date: Klan meeting.)

my world is small and huge at the same time. you'll see.
What I’m doing with my life
i'm a front-end web developer, right now i'm working on a project for a news company that has 3 big red letters. before that, i was at a marketing firm. i do miss agency life sometimes!

i also have been DJing for a number of years. i play at a couple of fine establishments around town and highly enjoy making people do the dance.

i play kickball in a league, and have been playing with the same group of people for 5+ years.

love to travel whenever i get a chance. last year i went to Japan for my birthday (thanks friends!!!). oh, that place is MAGICAL!

but there's more. oh, so much more . . .
I’m really good at
nerding out. using ellipses . . . making and getting obscure references. dancing. trivia.
The first things people usually notice about me
i don't know what it is, but people are really inclined to talk to me . . . maybe it's my kind, welcoming demeanor. i'm like Burger King, inviting you to have a Whopper.

i wouldn't say that it's a thing that's noticed, since you wouldn't know to notice it unless you know my age - but i don't look my age. i have yet to have anyone guess correctly . . .
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
my favorite authors:
douglas adams, jim butcher, robert e howard, weis & hickman, neil gaiman, patrick rothfuss, robert jordan, tad williams

i'm a huge fantasy / sci-fi (mostly fantasy) book reader. like - i read a lot of books. i'm not physically huge. i LOVE the Song of Fire and Ice series (what an awesome show, too), and the "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams. i also read a couple of urban fantasy authors - Rob Thurman, Kevin Hearne, Thomas Sniegoski.

i would list the book that i'm currently reading here, but i would have to go and update my profile every week or so - yeah, i'm a serial reader :-)

some of my favorite movies:
the Conan films
Chungking Express
the original Star Wars trilogy
Lord of the Rings trilogy
Kill Bill
Scott Pilgrim vs The World

i don't watch much TV, but when i do (Netflix usually) i'm watching:
Game of Thrones
Walking Dead
30 Rock
Parks and Recreation
The Office
Always Sunny
The IT Crowd
How I Met Your Mother
i do like Big Bang Theory on the basic level, but they kind of go over the top sometimes being "nerdy" . . .

i also like comedy. BIG Mitch Hedberg fan (R.I.P.), Donald Glover, Garfunkel and Oates, Aziz Ansari, Chelsea Peretti, George Carlin (R.I.P.), Barry Sobel, Tig Notaro, Anthony Jeselnik.

The Avatar cartoon series got me HOOKED (original and Korra). i keep up with my Bleach and Naruto, and will grab any good anime series that i come across. right now i'm watching Shingeki no Bahamut and Sword Art Online II.

music, wow, where do i start (yes i'm breaking the : format).

honestly, my interests go from Metallica (old stuff) to Enya (yeah i admit it) to A Tribe Called Quest. my FAVORITE groups of all time are: Cocteau Twins, Lush, the aforementioned Tribe Called Quest, Depeche Mode, and the Cure. i'm big into female vocalists, shoegaze, new wave, 80s . . . artists like Midnight Juggernauts, Crystal Castles, Little Boots . . . i started out my DJing (note: i do NOT DJ for a living!!!) playing hip hop and house, then branching to drum and bass / jungle for 9 years - nowadays i mainly play indie dance/electro, but you really should always expect a surprise! my musical landscape is kind of ALL OVER THE PLACE. we'll have to talk.

or you can look here:

latest new (and "old" new) music:
Savages (cannot express enough my love of their album)
Still Corners
Mazzy Star's latest album - on REPEAT

i also made a KILLER old-school hip-hop mix on Spotify. Spotify RULES.

anything my mom cooks (with the exception of rutabagas, BLEAH). i feel bad when i go to soul food restaurants, because i'm like "hmmm i could go to my folks' house and have this better . . ."

not a vegetarian but can appreciate the choice and i like vegetarian/vegan restaurants (Sunflower Cafe and Harmony especially).

some of my favorite restaurants in town are Argosy, El Myr(iachi), Eats, the Bookhouse - delicious! i love trying new places, as well. i have some friends that just opened some spots that need to be tried. i'm willing to try just about anything. FREE MY MIND!
The six things I could never do without
family & friends
internet (it's my job!)
nerd culture
YOU (just kidding, been doing ok so far)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
who killed Cock Robin

how many licks it takes to get the center of a Tootsie Roll pop

who that girl is that's running around with you (

what my name, quest, and favorite color are

da mystery of da chessboxin'

which of my myriad unstarted projects to start on

something else to add to this list

On a typical Friday night I am
on Friday nights, I'm djing at Mother on Edgewood. it's not a mandatory gig, though, and if there's something else i want to do . . . i can! dancing . . . art shows . . . karaoke? i really like sitting in a booth or a table at a bar or at someone's house or in a box with a fox and a mouse, having some drinks and talking about life, the universe and everything.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
deep down, i have a huge, panic-inducing fear of jujubes.
You should message me if
you: kind, intelligent, cute, nerdy or nerd-friendly, funny, thoughtful, compassionate. someone with a good social circle (however large or small it may be) and who is easy to hang out with and share interests with. looking for a positive-minded person. goofballs welcome.

also, if you're NOTHING like this chick: (can you feel my NERD RAGE growing?)

(note: the screen name is a Hitchhiker's Guide reference, not a predilection for 42-year-olds (nothing against 42-year-olds!))
