My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
i'm an east-coast transplant in chicago. i have a somewhat funny accent.

i'm mostly quiet, but im not shy. i make bad jokes about everything, because puns are super amusing. i also dig sarcasm and wit, verbal sparring and a good argument.

currently im finishing up the research phase of my phd and moving towards the thesis defense in the spring.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
trying to graduate
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
awkward silences, quoting movies, playing, singing poorly, dancing terribly, whistling, pondering, cooking, increasing entropy, fixing things, breaking things and generally making a fool of myself. also long lists of gerunds.
The first things people usually notice about me

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

music: flaming lips, grateful dead, the who, the hold steady, bob dylan, radiohead, the mountain goats, american folk music, and most anything i can sing along to.

i like well-written books, sci-fi, classic lit, nonfiction, anything as long as its well thought out (and not written by a third grader). lately, its been Terry Pratchet, as well as the final book(s) in the wheel of time.

I love movies/books that convey moral ambiguity and that don't spoon-feed the audience -- things that make your brain itch a little bit. i also like watching stupid comedies, long documentaries, and goofy action movies. but be prepared for some mst3k-style nonsense.

i like tv that makes me laugh like an idiot or worry about the characters.

i'm kind of a foodie, i'll eat anything that came off an animal, or anything that i haven't had before -- especially if its a little gross in some way (cow eyes? cockroaches? awesome). i love curry and spicy food, fresh vegetables, and stinky cheese.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
that time late at night/early in the morning when nobody is around and the world is silent ,
the internet,
socks,
beer,
coffee,
and a delicious carbon source (life just can't go on without it).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
im always trying to figure out why.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
lately? working/writing. but i promise that i'm not as boring as all that. i prefer live music and beer when the opportunity arises.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
i tend to zone out when i'm walking around, which results in me walking into parking meters, lamp posts, newspaper/mail boxes, other people, parked cars, and those thigh-high concrete flower pots around the city. i've only hurt myself a few times.
