My self-summary
I'm kind of a disaster.

I love watching people interact with muppets. Also, I can probably roller skate circles around you. Just a suspicion.

At this point, I think I'm set on epidemiology. I'd like to study contagious diseases, specifically rabies or parasitic diseases, not in the least bit because when the zombie apocalypse comes (I'm from Pittsburgh. It seems prudent to prepare for it) I'd like to know as much as I can about it. Quite aside from my desire for regional zombie apocalypse preparedness, I think infectious diseases are FASCINATING.

Did you know that the term "patient zero" dates from CDC research into the AIDS epidemic? Or that AIDS actually entered the human population, and that people started dying from it somewhere around 1910? And that the way they've figured this out is by tracing back genetic mutation in various strains of AIDS, and by doing a heck of a lot of math.

That's really neat, right?

Oh, I'm pro-choice. If you're not, that's all well and good, but I'm not dating you. Ever. Please don't waste my time.

I dig the anti-choice thing, it's your own business, but I don't date people who think they should have final say in what I do with my own damn body. Shove your objections up your butt.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently at Pitt, looking to pursue a career in epidemiology. I'm still working on my Bachelor's degree, as I took some time off. I'd much rather work for the CDC than become a sporadically-employed academic. It seems like a better all-round life plan.

Also, I'm on the local roller derby team. It's pretty much the coolest thing ever.
I’m really good at
I can sing pretty well. And I used to be pretty darn good at violin, and writing fiction. I'm not sure if I've still got that. I wield the English language pretty nicely, too.
The first things people usually notice about me
My hair. It's very, very blonde. I also have fabulous glasses. They have a sparkly dragonfly on the side.

People also notice that I talk a lot. Loudly. And well.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Food? I don't like potatoes and ham very much, but that's about it. I love soup, especially chicken noodle and french onion. I love Indian food, and anything with dill in it. And roast chicken. I love Jamie Oliver's recipes. I'm not a big dessert person, but I like things that are sweet and savory at the same time, like salted toffee.

My favorite books include "Underworld," the short stories of Flannery O'Conner, "The Right Stuff," "Lolita," "The Grapes of Wrath," and of course, "Harry Potter." I think I'd be in Ravenclaw. I've been reading A LOT recently, almost constantly. I used to work for this wonderful non profit, where I was in charge of the literacy program, and I love children's literature. I'm currently reading "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" and I really dig it. I'm also listening to "The Viral Storm" on audio book. Audio books are awesome. Oh, and those "Hunger Games" books are THE SHIT.

I'm going to answer "shows" broadly and include stage shows, because I have a musical theater problem that anyone who knows me just has to learn to deal with. I adore You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown and watch The Tony Awards every fucking year, by God, and will be TOUCHY if I miss them.

Television-wise, Buffy The Vampire Slayer is awesome, as is The X-Files. I'm recently obsessed with How I Met Your Mother. I'm really enjoying Friday Night Lights.

OH! OH! OH! Top Gear!!! JAMES MAY IS AMAZING. SQUEE.

I also love most shows on HBO, specifically The Wire and Deadwood.

I think my favorite movie is Fargo. But there are a million movies I love almost as much. I love "Monster's Inc." "Once Upon a Time in the West" "The Godfather" "Let the Right One In" "Heathers" and plenty others.

Music? Dear Lord. That's really difficult. I've been listening to the Beatles a lot recently, and Frightened Rabbit. I just went to their concert here at that place in the Strip, whatever it's called. It was the BEST SHOW OF MY LIFE.
The six things I could never do without
1) Roller Skates
2) Millions of people
3) Adventures
4) Books
5)NPR
6) Screw six. I always hated that number.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm terrified of flashing lights. Like, not just strobes, even Christmas tree lights'll do it.
