I am weird, geeky, and obsessive.
My Self-Summary
I am an incredibly boring & uninteresting
scifi reading, photograph taking, RPG
gaming,
polyamourous, odd car obsessing,
steampunk
costume making, punning, bicycle rebuilding, LEGO building,
autocross
racing, diner hunting, weirdo with a penchant for odd turns of
brain.
I exist online in
website,
livejournal and
flickr forms.
To avoid any confusion or surprises, I am polyamorous and happily
involved with
Auntiemame67 on a pretty serious basis.
She is not only aware of this profile, but sitting next to me while
I write it. So being at least friendly/polite with her would be a
requirement for getting involved with me.
What I’m doing with my life
I sold out to a desk job for less stress and better pay, but
corporate america lied to me and gave me lots of stress and not
much better pay. And now my job is going off to India in July to
find itself and leaving me behind. So I am being thrust grudgingly
back into job hunting. India and my job are having relationship
issues that mean I'm still employed through the end of the
year.
On my own time I jump randomly between restoring my '62 Mercury
Comet "emily", autocrossing in a very improbable vehicle, hunting
down diners & ghost signs, rebuilding (and hopefully soon
camping in) my vintage aluminum trailer, playing with Legos,
etc.
I'm stuck somewhere between enjoying being a grownup, and still
feeling like a kid who can now buy the coolest toys ever. This
causes situations like having a bedroom with nice old furniture,
and a huge collection of LEGOs in the corner.
Just recently I've fully realized that the combination of a desk
job and turning 30 was doing nothing good for my health. So I'm
trying to at least be more aware of how badly I'm eating, and am
going to the gym a few times a week.
I’m really good at
I'm great at coming up with insane ideas, but mediocre on the
follow through. Mostly due to a tendency to be distracted by
another bright shiny idea.
The first things people usually notice about me
For years it was probably a tossup between the saying on my t-shirt
or the 2ft+ braided rattail down my back.
Lately my day-to-day wardrobe has gotten more boring due to and
office job, while my fun wardrobe has gotten more interesting due
to my increased interest in steampunk.
I have often been accused of being weird or having a bizarre sense
of humor, and I am inclined to agree.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: I love SF including
Spider Robinson,
Lois McMaster
Bujold,
Robert Heinlein,
Neal Gaiman Terry Pratchett,
Neal
Stephenson, and
William Gibson. I also love
Robert B
Parker's
Spenser novels, and
John MacDonald. I am
trying to find the missing books to complete my collection of
Tom Swift Jr
&
Rick
Brant boy's adventure books from the 50's.
Movies: I love bad movies, the cheesier the better. As such
I'm a huge
MST3K
fan. I also have a
Car Chase Movie Night at
my place every other Wednesday where we hang out and watch vaguely
car-related movies, this is often combined with snarky comments and
takeout.
Music: My tastes vary from
Ani Difranco to
Johnathan Coulton,
Great Big
Sea to
Voltaire,
Jimmy Buffett to
Moxie Fruvous. I also have a
disturbing fondness for really wrong covers, if you spend enough
time around me you'll end up hearing lounge versions of punk songs,
punk versions of Celine Dion, or an Ani Difranco-Jackie Chan
duet.
Food: Sadly spicy food and I don't get along at all. I do
love
Thai,
Chinese, and
Sushi, but nothing beats
breakfast served all day at a real
diner.
On a typical Friday night I am
Generally girlfriend is over here or I am over there. Friday is
often a combination of relaxing from the week and packing/planning
for the weekend. We're not so good at the just doing nothing.
On the 2nd Friday of the month I'm usually at the Western MA
Poly group diner meetup(rte9 Diner in Hadley, 7pm, come hang
out!).
Editors
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I'm really shy, and try to hide it by being as outgoing as
possible.
I can be rather neurotic sometimes, it's a hobby of mine.
If I've shown up on your stalkers list and not messaged you it is
because I am no good at making the first move on here. But if you
write me I promise to write back.
You should message me if
What you read interested you, and you live within about 100 miles
of me and/or in the Boston metro area (as I like visiting up
there). The same sadly can not be said of the NYC metro area.
I'm looking for some combination of: significant others,
sweeties, um-friends, snuggle partners, friends, partners-in-crime,
or just more people to be social with in the area.
Also, I'm polyamorous and am not interested in being in a
monogamous relationship. No, this doesn't mean I want you to sleep
with my girlfriend. :)
