Books: I am a literature major, so this section makes me nervous. I
love so many books and I forget them and it's too much to handle. I
am pretty big on James Joyce, Anne and Charlotte Bronte, Elizabeth
Barrett Browning, Thomas Hardy-- the big Victorian sex and gender
writers! Patricia Lockwood is probably my favorite contemporary
poet. I'm real into Judith Butler (Judy Butts), Foucault (when he
isn't doing horrible things or having great books with like a few
pages of irreconcilably horrible thoughts/desires. Most of the
books I love are from the Victorian era, because I was pretty
heavily entrenched in studying that era for five years. I
lovelovelove Percy and Mary Shelley, Tennyson, Robert Browning etc.
I need more contemporary readings, so please! do not be shy and
recommend one! ANDANDAND if you are a writer, I wanna read your
work 'cause I am a nerd.
Also, I kind of love comic books. Don't ask if I read DC or Marvel,
because I read both for totally different reasons! If you ask me,
image is making those great comics right now, anyway. Favorite
writers are Jonathon Hickman, Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Joss
Whedon, J.H. Williams III. My fav indie comic writers are Marjane
Satrapi and whoever wrote "the Bottomless Bellybutton"
Movies: I don't know as much about movies and film as I would like,
but I really like fun comedies (Hot Rod, Life Aquatic, This is the
End) and interesting ones that my friends who are better at this
than I am show me (Aguirre, the wrath of god, Walkabout, Kuro Neko,
Summer Hours. Herzog is pretty awesome and wild, but his movies
sometimes make me feel weird because of Klaus Kinski.
Shows: Doctor Who because who doesn't? Star Trek (TNG, TOS, DS9),
COMMUNITY, Parks and Rec, Stella, Michael and Michael have Issues,
the Simpsons, Masterchef, Kitchen Nightmares, anything where Gordon
Ramsay potentially takes his shirt off (hubba hubba whaaaaaaaat).
My best friend of my life made me watch WWE wrestling before I
moved away from my home town, so there is a huge nostalgia factor
to that. I am more into theater than sports, so it's perfect!
Music: I am pretty big on the K! Records bands esp. anything
involving Calvin Johnson. RIP Plan-it-X records, u were my first
punx love. I am pretty big on experimentation in music. I think
Fleetwood Mac has WAY too many perfect albums. I still think Bright
Eyes (per-Cassadaga) is adorable and great. Cyndi Lauper is
amazing. I gotta give it up to Mac Drizzay REST IN PEACE MAC. Gram
Parsons and Emmylou Harris are my favorite couple in music, and I
wanna be both of them. First Aid Kit is qt. Bob Dylan is probably
my first big artist of musical consciousness, which is why he
dominates my play count on last.fm, even after no0t sitting down to
listen to Bobby in over a year (maybe two?). I am Jordanacus on
Last.fm go there!
