I am peaceful, playful, and unexpected.

My Self-Summary

I live an artist's life -- and I have it made. I create for a living, to laugh and to soothe my soul. I'm completely entranced by the world around me and find magic and adventure in just about every day. Dark times are balanced, to the extreme, by the fullness of discovery.

I'm incredibly lucky to be surrounded by people with talent and grace, and I've been amazed to see my own work, and my world, grow. I make my living, currently (its apt to change at moment's notice) as a creative director / inteiror architect, but I write, design just about anything, and collaborate artistically with anyone who asks. My home and my studio are like ever-evolving installations... places where my mind, and my hands, just wander free.

my profile name is a reference to 'revolution in 4 part harmony', an amazing film about the power of song to mobilize and revolutionize. there's a south african singer, vusi mahlasela, who makes my soul soar. If you get him, invariably you'll get me.

Ridiculous things seem to happen to me (I'm currently recovering, and this week it hurts like hell, from my car running over me, with one of my dogs in the driver's seat; Atlanta's token transvestite cop walks my beat, and has had occasion to search my house and under my bed... My neighbors and friends have been optioned as a showtime sitcom, and it all makes perfect sense to me.

So, I smile and I laugh, a lot.

Aside from the whole getting run over thing, which gives me entirely too much downtime (hence the novel of a profile), I wouldn't mind meeting someone, obviously or I wouldn't be here, but it's not my main focus at the moment. I've landed in a life that's full and rich, and very much mine. And it's an extraordinary place to be.

What I’m doing with my life

Everything I can think of and a whole lot more to come.
Someone told me my summary didn't offer much detail about me, but what's here is what's in my heart; and being here (on this earth) is something I didn't expect to be today. So I find I live in the moment. And I actually understand all those sayings, about a day at a time, and doing the next right thing, and I live my life, surprisingly, accordingly. And, what's on the outside, is what's on the outside -- I change my hair and eye color routinely (life as a blond gets boring), I alternate between European fashion and third-hand rags. (I have the most fabulous collection of old prom tuxedo shirts). I have two big dogs who don't know they're dogs (rescued greyhounds -- sam is just now learning how to play) and two cats who come when you call, and walk me to the elevator door.

I’m really good at

reserving seriousness for serious things; laughing at the world around me; taking it all a single solitary day at a time; caring deeply about the people around me. I'm probably one of the nicest people you'll ever know.

The first things people usually notice about me

I look somewhat like an anime, I swear by platform shoes, my aura is purple (or so I've been told), and people seem to feel surprisingly at peace around me.

And, just in case you think its all peace and harmony around here,... I earned that purple aura, more times than I care to recount. For some reason I'm still standing (well, when I'm not beneath the wheels of a car), and I view my life as a strange, wonderous, unexpected gift. When nothing is defined, I've found, nothing -- absolutely nothing -- is outside your reach. And, I have no idea where my heart and mind might lead me next.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My favorite things these days are visual, exploratory, sculptural. I walked through an exhibit by Olafur Eliasson recently and it blew me away. Just about anything urban or international in art and design intrigues me. The way movement impacts a space, how street becomes mainstream, then back to revolutionary again... the amazing range of talent out there, and all of the mediums to try. For me, I think, its all about seeing and doing, absorbing and experiencing. I don't think I sit still long enough to have a favorite book or movie, definitely not tv. If I haven't seen it, if I don't know how to do it, if it involves areas of the arts where I have no clue, parts of the world where I've never been, I am totally entranced.

The six things I could never do without

my friends, my family, my pets, kindness, curiosity, peacefulness

I spend a lot of time thinking about

life and love, dignity and courage, finding peace and joy in every day

On a typical Friday night I am

working, exercising, listening to music, out with friends, walking my dogs, nothing is typical, really, in my life

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I lied about my age . I've started my life over so many times I've begun counting backwards. ( 44 -- I'm not a good lier) So although age is fairly irrelevant to me, especially in matters of the heart and the soul, for all the 20-year-olds who keep writing me: first: thank you for being so sweet, but second -- yes, that difference is probably too big a thing.

You should message me if

you like big dogs and strange cats, you live your life with equal parts grace and craze, you have an open creative soul, and you can deal with someone who is dealing outright with life

(I realize that last one makes no sense unless you know that my father is terminally il. It impacts my every day, often in very good ways, and I hope that it will, and that I will, be loving and learning and growing, for a long, long time to come).

or, if you have some cool music to send me. that'd be great.

Peace.
