I think of myself as a Southern woman -- just one that has lived all over the states and overseas: Florida, North Carolina, Connecticut, Texas, Belgium, and Germany.

My friends have described me as very open, friendly and way to nice. And, they all seem to think I am young for my age. I am always surprised that they see me as a very social being -- I consider myself rather shy.

On the surface I might seem a tad high maintenance. But, I am far from it. It's just that I'm a girly girl and enjoy lovely clothes. Yes, the three inch heels come out often, but that's because I am 5'2". You would wear them too if you spent most of your life looking up peoples nostrils. But, I am really most comfortable in my favorite jeans from Goodwill and a pair of ancient Doc Martens. And, I always seem to pick the cheap wine as my favorite at every wine tasting I attend.

I try to exercise regularly, but don't really participate in competitive sports. I really enjoy some outdoors activities like hiking, tennis, or kayaking. However, I am not an total outdoorsy type -- Hotels were invented for a reason -- camping (i.e., life without running water and flush toilets) is kinda low on my wish list. I adore going to live games and races, but don't understand why anyone would want to sit around and watch one on TV. I love going dancing at night clubs and latin joints with my friends. I take the occasional dance class or two and would probably take more if I had the time. On top of all that, I try to vollunteer or do something that isn't about me on a regular basis.

So, I guess you could say that I stay pretty busy and still try to keep up with an active social life. I sometimes feel like my life is ruled by the schedule on my blackberry's calendar, but it is all good. If it gets too much, I just pretend I am out of town and take a break.

No kids; never married. No real reason -- it just never happened. Look -- I'm not necessarily looking to move in with you, have your children and all that other stuff, but I am open to the possibility of a committed relationship. I really just want to meet some decent intelligent men my own age and see where it goes.

I work in Uptown Charlotte for a large law firm. After years of making work my priority, I finally decided that other aspects of my life were equally important. So, while I take my job seriously, I have a wide range of other interests -- I am never bored.

I have begun to work with a group that mentors Latina high school girls to encourage them to go on to stay in school and go on to higher education. It means a lot to me.

Other than that, I am just enjoying life, trying be a good friend and daughter, and striving to do it all with some grace.

I'm small, dark and quiet. So, I'm not sure if people do notice me.

Books: Prefer non-fiction, but admit to having read all the Harry Potter books and everything written by Dick Francis. Read lots of plays -- aloud. Currently reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy.

Movies: Love just about any movie genre except horror; partial to sci-fi. Fav movie of all time a toss up between The Appointment (Omar Sharif and Anouk Aimee) and Army of Darkness.

Music: I love all kinds of music -- from Nina Simone and Etta James to Disco and Punk Rock. However, I could do without gagsta rap and death metal. Liking a lot of jazz and salsa lately. Disco always makes me happy. Gipsy Kings and Van Morrison put me in the mood. Just went to a BB King concert at the Filmore (the opening band rocked!). So, I think you could call my musical tastes eclectic. Anyway, I still have and listen to vinyl although the collection is much smaller than it used to be. Movers used to accuse me of being a DJ.

Food: Cuban, Thai, Mexican, Italian, sushi, just about anything....generally I just love food that kicks me in the mouth. Never turn down a good steak.

TV: While I have a large (42") TV, I really don't watch much at all. I gave up cable a while back and haven't really missed it that much and was amazed at the amount of time doing without it has freed up for me. The TV is really just an appliance to watch DVDs.

My Cat, Daisy -- I got her "used". She is a brown tabby Persian, but she thinks she is a dog.

My Girls -- you know the ones that call at 7 am on a Saturday just to see how my night went or to tell me about theirs.

My Powerbook -- keeps me connected to the world.

My Parents -- I know I will have to do without them someday, so I am trying to enjoy them now.

My Caffeine -- I drink way too much coffee and redbull.

My Heels -- I'm 5foot2 -- nuff said.

I might go dancing -- I love Latin dancing -- or just to a movie or dinner out. Others, I might just hang out at home with a friend or five....
