What I’m doing with my life

Telling stories and talking about media with teens, telling people where the bathroom is and promoting information literacy. Contributing to the revolution of newthink in our library system. Debating customization vs. standardization. Breaking lawnmowers and ripping up weeds. Walking my dog and window shopping in downtown Olympia. Making burritos with homegrown corn. Buying apples from the Farmers Market. I spend my free time watching movies, listening to music, going out to dinner with friends, and reading amazing stuff. There are a few TV shows I consider appointment material, even though I don't own a television. I spent 2000-2004 in PA for college, and I've traveled somewhat extensively, but I'm a geographically-rooted kind of person and the greater Olympia area owns my roots. I pick up friends relatively easily.

I’m really good at

Making people feel comfortable (when I feel like it).
Singing.
Organizing with attention to detail (when necessary).
Playing piano/sight reading.
Managing (maybe).
Geeking out on the latest obsession/aka researching (past topics have included Abbie Hoffman, Fairies in Shakespeare, Women in/Feminist interpretation of/Midrash of the Old Testament, Clique Lit, Neil Gaiman, Feminist Classification Theory, Graphic Novels, Vampires in pop culture, Graphic Novel Travelogues, etc. etc. etc.)
Creative cooking for my own tastebuds.
Walking slowly.

The first things people usually notice about me

Either my welcoming smile or my butch/don't-touch-me walk (depending on which exterior I'm exuding).

The six things I could never do without

1. Someone to love
2. Someone loving me (back)
3. Great Art
4. Something to search for
5. Self-Expression
6. Tasty Food

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What's next on my list, what I'm forgetting, god, friends, art, theory, definition, the grand scheme of things, the future, the plan, the right way to do things, whether the "right way" matters this time, how to connect with children.

On a typical Friday night I am

Either watching movies on my couch or out at dinner, a show or a movie with friends.
On a more unusual Friday, I may be walking on the Oregon Coast (nearly getting swept away in the process), partying in Portland, Seattle, or Oly with friends, or doing dinner with friends downtown. Favorite spots downtown include QB, New Moon (well, not Friday nights, but you know...), The Mark, Swing, Jakes, the BroHo, the Onion, Plenty, OFS, Water Street Cafe, Basilico Ristorante Italiano (you know where I mean - I can never remember the order of the words), El Guanaco...

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm far more picky about who I date than who I kiss.
Also, depending on how some people define "virgin," i may be one.
But do think about that definition.

You should message me if

You are open, friendly, artistic, close, curious, seeking, driven, and beautiful (define all terms at will).
