It's been a good year for me, professionally--lots of exciting things have happened. In general, I feel grateful for what life has offered me: emotional and financial stability, good friends, the ability to set my own schedule and to pursue my passions.

A little about me: I'm enthusiastic and opinionated, a culture junkie who enjoys new experiences. I play well with others. I like to roam around the planet for inspiration. I work for myself and do reasonably well. I love New York and Brooklyn especially--I grew up here and I'll never get sick of it. I enjoy writing. My story collection, Margins of Tolerance, came out last year, and recently I started freelancing for the WSJ.

I can always use a few more cool people in my life, although the right one is what I'm really looking for. I think I'm ready for the next chapter.

Living it, as well as I can. Learning-- through experience, but also through patience. I work for myself as a private tutor, which allows me the time to write and travel, often enough.

Many things, I hope. Some good: conversing, socializing, traveling, opining, giving advice. Some perhaps not so good: wasting time, eating things that are bad for me, watching competition reality TV. The other things you'll have to discover for yourself...

Books: let's go with authors: Bolano. Murakami. McCullers. Fitzgerald. Chabon. J. Egan. J. Diaz. And a bunch of my friends, who are authors like me. (Don't worry if you don't recognize these last names, but big plus if you do)

Movies: Classics from All About Eve to A Place in the Sun to Indie films and foreign films and even some Hollywood crap (the good crap). Tarantino, the Coen Brothers, Almodovar, Miranda July, Before Sunrise, etc.

TV: Lately: Portlandia and American Horror Story and Girls. Stewart and Colbert. Breaking Bad and Mad Men. Runway. Drag Race. The Wire. MSNBC for news.

Music: I have about 65GB of music. I can't do this category. Don't make me. Lots of alternative/rock/electronica/dance.

Food: I LOVE food! Too much. Sushi to Pizza to Pho to Babaghanouj to Ample Hills Salted crack caramel ice cream to...I could go on for a long time...

I could do without this category. It's too "dating site" for me.

politics and how f#@$ed up the world is and how I should be doing nice things like volunteering and then I feel guilty because I'm just thinking about it but not doing enough. Then I think about masturbating.

Out to dinner. Maybe a loungey bar afterwards- preferably one with some killer cocktails. I might be away for the weekend (or longer), in any of a number of possible places. Or I might just stay home and queue something on Netflix.

Now what would be the fun in admitting it on here? Wouldn't you prefer I share my secrets with you and not with everyone else casually browsing through my profile?

you like my profile, of course. I tend to like (younger) guys who are sweet and enthusiastic and social and smart and funny in a smart way. They like to go out and explore but they also like to just relax and chill at home. I don't like inflexible, judgmental or difficult people. Flakiness and ambivalence turn me off. Directness and sincerity are hot.
