I am intelligent, rational, and amused.
My Self-Summary
I've recently finished spending a long period getting my
undergraduate degree (
Math/
Philosophy), and it seems that I've
stuck around for even more. I like to puzzle. (double meaning
intended) I'm generally good-humored toward people, but I can be
ruthless towards ideas. I spend my free time hanging-out, playing
video games,
pondering and day-dreaming.
BTW, my personality awards are basically all spot-on.
What I’m doing with my life
Career-wise, I'm working on my Master's in Math, then (hopefully)
my PhD.
After that my options broaden too much for me to be
confident.
There is a fair chance that I might end up in Philosophy or
Logic.
It feels not quite enough to simply know or to understand or even
to explain.
There is a drive to create - to contribute something original and
interesting.
I’m really good at
sleeping, programming, Dr. Mario, reasoning, being me(I don't mean
to brag or anything, but in fact I am PERFECT at being me =/)
People have told me that I am good at giving insightful
explanations. Sometimes I am. I've given enough bad explanations to
know that I need to have a really good understanding first.
The first things people usually notice about me
That I am a human, possibly male.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
With fiction I seem to enjoy setting over story; I guess it stems
from my tendency to daydream. I must be weird in this regard,
'cause the market is replete with novels and has only a smattering
of works that are truly setting-focused. My appetite for fictional
setting mostly subsists on D&D supplements and Wikipedia.
With nonfiction I prefer the conceptual over the historical.
Feynman and David Lewis are two of my favorite authors.
My musicians of choice:
Aphex Twin,
Muse,
Tool,
Guster
Food:
Steaks are delicious and cows generally live lives worth living.
Although also delicious, I prefer not to eat the piggies. -oink-
(The grammar nazi reading of that previous sentence is
funny.)
Also, pasta is great!
The six things I could never do without
Wikipedia, friends, sundry modern technological
conveniences(showers, soap, cars, etc.), art, (writable) language,
and kitties
I can do without a TV.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the good life,
hopeless inventions,
idle fantasies,
how some bit of the world works,
how some bit of the world should work.
Lately I've been thinking a lot about what distinguishes the
statements were are true simply by virtue of their meaning from the
rest.
On a typical Friday night I am
at the gym praying (repeatedly) to the god of abs.
After that I am possibly playing extremely low-stakes
poker with my friends(and
winning =p),
or singing (mediocrely) in
Rock Band(R),
or just by myself reading with my kitty.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
More than any other album,
Guster's Lost and Gone Forever really
resonates emotionally with me.
You should message me if
If you're artsy or sciency or mathy or bookish.
If you have a curious nature.
If you have some question needling you that I might be able to help
you answer. Especially if it is a Philosophy, Math, or Fundamental
Physics question.
If you know how I can keep my cat from periodically peeing in my
hallway. (Fixed! Just line the entire hallway with litterboxes
Muahaha!)
If you feel aesthetic appreciation when someone surprises you with
an insightful counter point.
Or if it just strikes your fancy.
