My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am a happy, easy-going guy with a pretty great life. I've got an excellent bunch of friends and a job I love, now I'm looking for a partner to share it all with.

A bit about me: People tell me I have a huge heart, though I sometimes lead with my intellect. My work affords me a pretty flexible lifestyle, and when I'm not out at a client site I tend to be fairly laid-back. I love adventures and conversation, but have no desire to join the X-games or win arguments with anyone. I ride motorcycles, scuba dive, watch movies, read books, and hang out at Oskar Blues. I prefer being with people to being alone, but I can make my own fun and am responsible for my own happiness. People say I can be intense, but I never notice it. I've practiced martial arts for many years and I go on zen retreats from time to time, but I am focused on having a great life, not some spiritual path of deprivation and sacrifice. :-) I am committed to growth and practice, but as my zen teacher says, "If you have lost your sense of humor, you have surely lost your way."

A bit about you: You are generally happy and easy-going, but you can still get things done when needed. You're self-sufficient and capable, but you can also share the controls with a partner. You know yourself well enough to know there's still a lot to learn. You are confident and strong enough to see the strength in vulnerability. You are willing to share me with my friends, and share your friends with me. You are interested in understanding the world, the culture, and the people around you and you'd like a partner to talk it all over with. There's a lot more, of course, but that might be a good start.

If you see yourself in any of that, I'd love to connect.

--- I don't understand exactly how this site decides if I'm online or not, but it seems to think I'm here even when I'm not. The internet is puzzling sometimes. :-) ---
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I absolutely love my work. I am a consultant and coach, helping people in business and industry bring the human side into their work.

I travel more than most people, but not all the time. Recently it's been in the US, but in the past several years I've worked on five continents in environments ranging from hotel conference rooms to diamond mines and offshore platforms.

I have a pretty flexible life and enjoy traveling when I'm not on a gig. I haven't worked 9-to-5 for over a decade.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Choosing a good hoppy beer, engaging in conversation, finding things to laugh about, helping people grow, enjoying people.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
For some it's my eyes, others my laugh, and for others the fact that I am a "grownup" who still drives a Tonka truck.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to live a joyful life. Philosophy, brain science, psychology, sociology. Why squirrels do what the do. People I love. Where I might go on my next adventure.

And, since I've been on OKCupid:
Why are so many of the questions so over-simplified or bizarrely polarized:
"Which shade of gray is your favorite? A. Black B. White C. I hate all colors."
For most, I feel like some explanation is necessary. And for some I just can't find an answer I can work with.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Down t' pub.
A movie.
Sharing a quiet evening at home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a bit of a sap and cry in movies with alarming frequency.

I read a quote on Piccsy:
"I like boys who are taller than me, smell good, and give great hugs. So, uh, you."
