My self-summary
I'm a goal-oriented guy, but spend most of my time with cultural artifacts (books, movies, music) and meaningful social experiences (performances, conversation, dinners) that don't necessarily further my career goals. I like to think that I have the perfect approach to life (for me): a challenging and rewarding job, more high-quality friends than I would have imagined, and an outlook that keeps me positive and kind.

Moved to Seattle two and a half years ago after grad school on the East Coast.
What I’m doing with my life
Made a crazy transition from working in the arts to working for a big media company, which has its challenges. But the mission-driven approach to my day-to-day has stayed pretty much the same. I love what I do, even when I get frustrated by it. And always on the lookout for the next crazy transition.
I’m really good at
Identifying excerpts from operas, telling you what movies are coming out in the next few weeks, and empathizing with viewpoints that I don't espouse. Others might add "singing" to this list.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The Sea (John Banville), Così fan tutte, The Elephant Vanishes (Murakami), Maroon 5, The Economist, Death and Life of Great American Cities, Eugene Onegin, Katy Perry, Ian McEwan books, The Guardian, Coldplay, Nobody Knows, Hairspray.
The six things I could never do without
Time outside everyday, music, my phone, seeing my family multiple times per year, live performances of theatre and opera, and empathy.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why people do what they do, the future of society, urban planning, the future of books and media, what will improve my friends' lives, how people find time for TV.
On a typical Friday night I am
At dinner, a play/symphony/opera, a friend's house, a movie, or out of town. Often with a drink in my hand.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'll admit pretty much anything in person. But not on the Internet.
