I am trying to be clever, unsuccessully, and getting nowhere.
My Self-Summary
I am
human. At least
that's what my parents told me. It may just be a marvelous coverup
story; I'd never know.
I am a
binge
reader. I will read a book cover to cover in one sitting if
it's well written. To help my sanity, I tend to read collections of
short stories so that I can stop after one or two.
I
juggle twice a
week (more if I can find time). I'm not a clown, but do know a
few.
I live with the COOLEST GIRL ever! And she makes me smile...
I like cool new
gadgets and eventually I will buy them!
I'll usually exhaustively research a purchase before deciding that
there's something cooler and newer that is more interesting.
(shiny!!!)
I play poker, backgammon, and scrabble. I play other games as well,
but not necessarily to win.

What I’m doing with my life
For my job, I program
control systems for
animatronics and other
movie/film/tv gadgets. It's good fun. It takes roughly 40 hours of
my week. The rest of the time is split between various hobbies,
making magic in the kitchen, doing things with friends, hikes
around the LA area...

I’m really good at
Going out of my way for people I like.
My job.
Operating a motor vehicle after only 2 hours of sleep
Throwing things at people (better at catching that which is thrown
at me).
Taking mediocre pictures.
Remembering little details.
Feeding people homecooked meals (I haven't killed anyone
yet!).
Reading long books in one sitting.
Finding things on the 'net.

The first things people usually notice about me
A couple of years ago, I'd say my hair, but I cut off my
dreadlocks. Now, I'm not really sure, perhaps my lack of six
fingers on each hand?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food
(Books) Books I recommend to people on a regular basis:
Heinlein's Job: A comedy
of justice; Ellison's Angry Candy;
Gaiman's
Neverwhere.
Just started the Tales from 1001 Nights. Border's classics are
great, but it's too bad they're not hard back anymore :/
Also started Pelevin's The Life of Insects which is an interesting
concept. I'll have to pick up a copy of it so I can finish
it.
(Movies)
Brazil;
The
City of Lost Children;
Spaceballs;
Mars Attacks;
Amelie;
Blazing Saddles;
Dr. Zhivago.
(Music) I've been listening to a fair bit of NPR the last couple of
months. Musically, I like a wide variety of generes, though I tend
to get into ruts with particular artists. Recent leanings are
towards classic jazz (Monk, Parker, Miles, Ella, ...) and a couple
of local (LA area) independent singer/songwriters.
(Food) Tending towards the healthy side of things. No fast food,
very little fried. I eat my veggies and actually enjoy them. I like
saltines.
(Drink) I haven't been boozing in a year. I've also been off
caffeine from the same date.
(TV) BBC America has some good shows -- Coupling, Hotel Babylon,
Robin Hood. Showtime has some good ones too -- Dexter,
Californication. I'm giving Flash Gordon a chance, but don't have
much hope for it. Planet Earth is amazing in HD, not so amazing in
SD.
The six things I could never do without
My senses (does that count as all 6?),
curiosity, friends and family,
freedom,
the letter Z, a
smile.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life,
liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness.
The next move in the game of life.
The correct way to phrase a "first contact" email so that I sound
interesting, interested, and not creepy.
On a typical Friday night I am
Visiting friends, having dinner, playing scrabble or poker. Being
the designated driver.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I hate going to sleep, but hate waking up in the morning more.
