I'm big on respect and love.
The other day I was on the way to work before the sun woke up. the BART was down so it was a total shit show getting onto the bay bridge. I sat there in bumper to bumper traffic as far as the eye could see. Dusk. Truck idling in the cold air, quietly pumping co2 and carbon monoxide and other co's into the atmosphere. I decided to light a cigarette to try and filter the smog so I didn't get a headache from it again. The line moved and I didn't have my foot on the clutch in time and this fucker in a prius cut me off. I had a small fantasy involving jumping out of my truck with a tire iron and yelling "IM LATE TOO WHAT THE HELL IS YOUR PROBLEM??". I flip through my phone a bit. The line moves a bit more. I can now make out the mainstay of the monolithic looking new bridge jutting forth from the fog and dwarfing the Bay. Ahead of me people pay the toll. I'm almost to the toll when I notice a flash out of the corner of my eye. the toll plaza takes a picture of my license plate. I realize this will be the first of 20 or so times I am photographed without my permission today. I contemplate the data from all the pictures taken streaming electrically to their destination, I start thinking about the giant computer in some non-descript building with tinted windows where that information is stored. Starting to get that headache again. The light turns green and I roast the tires a bit in anticipation of getting to actually make headway. It occurs to me at this moment that this would make a decent scifi book.
