I am wry, literate, and easily amused.

My Self-Summary

I never know where to go with these summaries. I'm 25 and I love reading and writing; I have a BA in English lit. I'm starting grad school this semester at IUP and I'll be studying Victorian Sensation Fiction. I also play guitar, listen to music, and try to figure out ways to minimize the hazardous stacks of books all over my room. Yeah..I'm a nerd like that. I like watching movies, too. I'm a fan of tattoos, piercings, body mods, and crazy hair. Don't ask. Hippies excite me somehow.

I feel like I should be writing more here, but it looks like most of the other important topics are going to pop up in the rest of the boxes in my profile, so rock n roll, as they say. And if you have any questions after you read through this, let me know. Feel free.

What I’m doing with my life

I have an Associate's in pre-teaching and the arts (don't ask...I don't know what to do with it, either) and a Bachelor's in English literature. I'm starting grad school to pursue my degrees in Victorian Sensation Fiction--it's like the Victorian classics, but more fun and less academically scrutinized. Apparently there's a new market for such things. Eventually I plan to teach college level literature. Also, I have a minor in German, so I'm planning to keep my bilingual skills up, as well.

Also, I'm working on a novel in the traditional Gothic tradition.

I’m really good at

Being an aspiring Victorianist.

I'm really good listening, but also I think I'm pretty good at writing. And reading. It sounds weird to say that you're good at reading, but if I have one obsession--one mania--it's books. (That and cuddling, which I think I'm also pretty good at, but that's another story). I tend to share my works in progress and finished shorter pieces with those close to me, and even bad feedback makes me feel accomplished. I guess you could say i'm good at taking criticism, too.

I used to say that I was good at sleeping, but lately that's not so much the case.

The first things people usually notice about me

Jeez...I really don't know. I'm pretty tall, so I guess people notice that first. I'm 6'2". I used to have very long hair, but I cut it a few months ago, so that's not really a notice-worthy thing anymore. I'd like to say that people notice my charming wit and boyish good looks, but hey. Honestly, I can be socially awkward sometimes, and I doubt I have boyish looks anymore, so that doesn't work.

The stylish black peacoat/trench-coat. Lovely.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Oh God, here we go.

Books (I'll just list my top five because this could easily get out of hand):
"Of Human Bondage" by W. Somerset Maugham
"The Gargoyle" by Andrew Davidson.
"Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
"White Oleander" by Janet Fitch
"Interview with the Vampire" by Anne Rice
Other authors I enjoy: Charles Bukowski, Poppy Z. Brite, Mary Elizabeth Braddon, Ayn Rand, Marie Corelli, Tiffanie DeBartolo, George Stade, Angela Carter, Stephen King, and many, many more.

Movies:
"Rules of Attraction"
"The Crow"
"Interview with the Vampire"
"Ten Things I Hate About You"
"American Beauty"
"Ginger Snaps"
"Liar, Liar"
"Shortbus"
"Hedwig and the Angry Inch"
"Wristcutters: A Love Story"
"Sorority Boys"
"Throw Momma From The Train"
"Tommy Boy"
"Factotum"
"Fight Club"
"The Craft"
"Repo! The Genetic Opera"

Music: If I could have anyone's voice in the world, it would be Chris Cornell's. Anyway, European metal is something I've been interested in for years now. I love metal from Israel, Portugal, Germany, Norway, Sweden...you name it. Some examples are Amon Amarth, Rammstein, Moonspell, Orphaned Land, Sentenced, Samael, Eluveitie, and Einherjer. I also like acoustic and alternative, though: Leonard Cohen, Nick Cave, Tom Waits and the like. You'll also find some jazz (Dave's True Story, for example), blues (Billie Holiday, Ray Charles, Jimmy Vaughan, Rye Cooder), and just plain strange music (Gogol Bordello, MSI) in my collection. Oh, and the most embarrassing CD/s in my music library are probably either Savage Garden or Seal.

Favorite TV shows: Oz, Queer as Folk, Roseanne, Arrested Development, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Family Guy.

Food: Italian. Hungarian. French. Chinese. Mexican. American. The list goes on.

The six things I could never do without

Books.
Music.
Physical human contact.
Conversation.
Intellect.
Textsfromlastnight.com...seriously, it makes ANYTHING better.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

big things like destiny, what-ifs, mortality, future plans, and the like. I've done a lot of thinking about cause and effect--karma, the golden rule, whatever you want to call it. I tend to ponder other large-scale things, too, like the butterfly effect. I often wonder where I'm going in life, where I'll end up, or, perhaps more importantly, how I'll get to where i want to go in the first place.

On a typical Friday night I am

reading or watching a movie. Alternately, I might be watching my ball pythons as they roam around (I have two), drinking whiskey or vodka, or stressing about the next several years of grad school I have ahead of me. Or any combination of the above.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

...if you want to know something, ask. I'm pretty open, but I won't post anything incredibly private on a public profile page.

You should message me if

you're looking for a good conversation partner, any other kind of partner, you just want to meet someone new, or I interest you.

Also, if you're not a party animal.

Or if you're a writer, reader, thinker, or, hell, an avid sexaholic. I don't care. Just be interesting. :)
