My self-summary
Ex-Bohemian turned corporate, I'm a writer, photographer, poet, mechanic, fabricator (metal!), painter, photographer, an amateur machinist, and I make a living as an engineer in the Silicon Valley. I like old sportscars and new biodiesels, drinking coffee and sleeping late, working hard and getting things done, relaxing with friends, a good conversation. I love the city but choose to live in the 'burbs. I'll listen to any kind of music as long as it's good, though classical, 50's bee-bop jazz, and 90's "alternative" are favorites. I like dusty old bookstores, art galleries, vintage sportscar and motorcycle races, days out exploring and quiet nights at home (sometime the opposite!)

I like my family, and I've got wonderful, colorful friends. I'm down to earth, not impressed by glitz, and believe a person's value comes from within. I'm passionate about my hobbies, and serious about my carrier.

I'm open to making some new friends and having some fun along the way, but I'd like to find someone to share my life with. Are you intelligent? Funny? Educated? Take care of yourself? Email!
What I’m doing with my life
Working on projects to be proud of and spending time with people I care about. I'm learning, exploring, enjoying life and planning a future.
I’m really good at
Fixing things, photography, invention, making things shiny, swingin' a hammer. I was a pretty good cook, enjoyed the sights, sounds, smells, and sizzles, though I've been eating out for years (busy, and so many wonderful places to eat!)
The first things people usually notice about me
Intelligence, sense of humor, charm, dashing good looks....
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I've just finished Kevin Cameron's "Top Dead Center", and I'm on to his book on Sportbikes.

I've been listening to Thievery Corporation, Bonobo, Zero 7, Link Wray, Etta James, PJ Harvey, Falconieri's Ciaconna, Ciaconna Paradiso, bunch of other stuff. Just discovered this crazy guy: რობი / Outsider - ლოკავს. No idea what language he's singing in. Russian maybe?

I don't watch much tv, and I'm picky about movies. I'm more likely to watch the Daily Show, Colbert Report, or Frontline than Fox News, though I sometimes listen to AM talk radio.

Food? I love to eat! One of life's simple (or not so simple) pleasures. Anything as long as it's good. I don't eat much fast food though I'll eat a burrito from a good "roach coach" or tacqueria. I enjoy a fancy meal shared with friends, though I generally eat simply when dining alone.

For some reason, a lot of ladies have been asking me about drinking lately(???) so I figured I should touch on that. I drank a lot of beer when when I was younger, but gave it up for many years. After a few trips to Germany, I started drinking it again (now and then.) I enjoy a good brew, something with depth and character, worthy of being savored and lingered over. I grew up with good wine on the table, so it was never a big deal with me ("snob appeal" isn't very appealing.) I started drinking port a while ago. A good one is sweet, smooth, velvety, like chocolate-covered cherries melting in your mouth! My favorite Scotch is Laphroaig, either quarter cask or triple wood, though I don't drink much. I love the way it smells, rich, warm, smoky, exotic. Special occasions. Anyway, I don't really drink much, so why not put something special in your mouth when you do?
The six things I could never do without
There's not much I couldn't do without, but why would I want to?

Good friends, interesting ideas, a worthy project, good food, good music. Oh, and a good woman!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Oh, you know what _men_ think about! ;-p
On a typical Friday night I am
Well, typical I don't know, but stepping out to catch some live music in a minute!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Secretly, I'm really a very nice guy. (Shhhh! It's a secret!)

You're a good woman but not a prude, you're fun but not frivolous, open but cautious, warm, caring, a giver but not a push-over, intelligent but lighthearted. You're a woman who deserves a good man even if you sometimes doubt you'll ever find one!
