My self-summary
I'm very adventurous, artsy, literary, kinetic, in good shape, highly exploratory, non-dramatic. I like to make things, and wish I had more space to do so at home (circular saw and latex paint IN the apartment, not a great idea....)

My life has been full of experiences that have been equally amazing, educational, and extremely difficult, and I find that a sense of humor about ALL of it is imperative. There is not much I can't find some way to laugh about, even if not right away. Your life is the stories you have to tell, and I'm hell bent on having some good ones.

I love the outdoors and am an avid skier, snowboarder, climber, and mt biker. I've hiked Everest Base Camp and climbed a 19,000 ft glacier in an ice storm. This is important because these activities often shape my free time and I'd like to meet someone who has at least some similar interests.

I think I am not like "most girls".

And now for The 'Why' (and you can skip this part if you don't give a rat's ass why I'm here, I won't be offended) - I have always had boyfriends, from the age of 17 to the age of 28, four serious relationships to be exact, without much time in between. After moving back to NYC in 2009 I found myself single for the first time, ever. This was FUN for about a year, but now I'm over it (one night stands and such become boring fast). And I am ready for a relationship of some sort. Whether it is a casual one or a serious one depends on many factors, but I think you will find I am open to most situations if approached correctly and honestly.

I am on this site because there are SO many people in NYC, I find it rare that I encounter men who meet 3 seemingly simple criteria: I like you, I want to make out with you, and you are not married or otherwise unavailable. So, voila, here I am.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying to be a creator rather than a consumer.

Wobbling along the line between responsible spontaneity and utter recklessness. I'm joking, but there is a Rumi quote I like that goes: "Searching for truth, the sage and the lunatic unite." So, I guess I'm somewhere on that spectrum.

Also, I like to push my own boundries, mentally and physically, and I really enjoy similar people. People who have an innate curiosity, who really look and listen, and have something to say.

I love trying new things, and by that I don't mean the new restaurant around the corner (though that is nice too), but let's jump into the lion's den and see what happens!
I’m really good at
Forgetting what I came in here for.
Rolling cigarettes (I don't actually smoke, old skill).
Self depricating humor and/or making fun of you.
Awkwardly stuttering while trying to make fun of you, thereby turning the tables on myself (see previous entry).

I'm also pretty good at relating to people on their level. I can get along pretty well with anyone if I want/need to, which I'm finding more and more to be a valuable skill at work, and in life.
The first things people usually notice about me
...Good teeth?

How does anyone know the answer to this question?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I don't think any of this is particularly telling, but:

Music: all sorts, indie rock, hip-hop, old country, French lounge, etc, and I have a nostalgic soft spot for 90's alternative rock, (when I go back home to MA and The Offspring are STILL playing on the radio... Yes, I rock out.)

Bookage: I enjoy snarky modern fiction. Classics are good when the time is right. I think I've read nearly everything by Steinbeck and Hemingway and once started a "Russian Greats" book club (which, admittedly, lasted for exactly 2 books). I also like the occasional memoir, (Russell Brand's had me laughing like a lunatic on the train recently...people were staring.) - Currently reading: The Dog of the South by Charles Portis.

Moves. I can be a tough sell with film. I wont sit through crappy ones, and I tend towards documentaries. That said, I love a really well executed film, to the point where it will effect my mood for days.

Food. Likes most things, eats healthy, will try anything once unless it's still alive, (they do some horrible things in China).
The six things I could never do without
Never say never, but:

Friends
Family
Movement
Storms
Music that gives you chills
Waking up
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How many calories were in that giant cookie I just inhaled?
Where i am going to go when this job is over.
The game theory of human interaction.
Can this be recycled?
Where will I go if I cash in the chips and leave New York...

While looking at this website I spend a lot of time thinking about, how have so many people had their picture taken with tigers!? WTF?! I would like to play with tigers! Also, how come so many people think its clever to rhyme "cupid" with "stupid" in their profile name and insert the word 'taco' with reckless abandon wherever they please?
On a typical Friday night I am
Participating in shenanigans.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Erm...I don't have any tattoos? apparently a rarity these days. Oh, and spellcheck had to correct my spelling of 'shenanigans'.
