I am going into, finals season, and too busy to talk now.
My Self-Summary
____________________________________________________________
UPDATE - It's the most wonderful time of the year!
Law school finals are starting up and will go on until
mid-December. So please don't be upset if I don't respond to
messages until after Dec 11th. "It's not you; it's me," and all
that. Ok?
Sorry. Wish me luck :)
____________________________________________________________
It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to be when I
grew up. My undergrad basically qualified me to have deep
conversations while waiting tables for a living, but I'm too clumsy
for that and didn't really want to be a professional servant
anyway. So I started working at a middle school in the ghetto with
the aim of becoming a history teacher, but ended up going to law
school instead to bust people out of cages and really stick it to
the man. That was the right choice.
In my free time I like picnics, motorcycle rides, cooking,
exercising, live music, paintball, camping, walking my parents'
dogs, and reading 3 or 4 history books at once without necessarily
finishing any of them.
I've really enjoyed being single for the last year or two, but am
probably more open to a significant relationship now than I have
been for a while. "Short-term dating" is always plenty of fun too
though.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm in my final year of lawschool and I work part-time for a civil
rights firm that sues the cops for beating the shit out of people.
I'd like to work as a public defender when I graduate, at least
until I settle down and have a family. Then I guess I'll have to
get a real job.
I’m really good at
over-analyzing things and giving really enthusiastic hugs. My
greatest achievement to date involved a cranky old crack-head named
Luis who had no idea that I was on his side. I didn't get to hug
him, but that's ok. He didn't smell so good anyway.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm told that I sort of over-pronounce my T's, which can make
people think I have a very mild accent. Apparently it's charming
(at least if you already liked me). I don't really notice it
myself.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books!
Tolstoy is my hero, and my favorite secular book of all time is
Non-Zero by Robert Wright. I like to give the law books a rest
whenever I can to read about history and pop-economics. So, yeah.
Books. Gotta love 'em.
Music.
I still have a soft spot for bands like Nine Inch Nails that I used
to dig as a teenager. I also like jam bands, 70's rock, jungle,
klezmer, Tori, AesopRock, contemporary gospel and most hippy music
in general. I love dancing to hip-hop. When I'm driving I usually
listen to Christian radio or NPR, though neither one really
reflects my ideology.
I don't feel like listing movies, so here are my favorite smells
instead:
gasoline, fresh baked bread, laundromats, coffee, cookies and that
pink liquid soap you find in public restrooms (gotta be pink
though; I'm indifferent to the green stuff).
Food.
Jalapenos! Also whole wheat banana PBJ's, ghetto Chinese at 2:00 AM
and chocolate Frosty's. Vanilla frosty's are an abomination.
The six things I could never do without
1) My family; Especially my dad!
2) My close friends
3) My belief system
4) Something to strive for
not so sure about 5 or 6. Maybe a good motorcycle and the
Economist. Or maybe access to other people's dogs, since I don't
have my own. I really love dogs.
On a typical Friday night I am
sometimes just lying in bed reading a book. I'm a bad-ass like
that. Other times I might be playing chess in a coffee shop or
rocking out at different clubs around Northern Liberties.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
When I was 8 days old my parents paid a guy to slice off my
foreskin while I laid on our dining room table and my family stood
around and applauded. I eat dinner on that table at least 5 or 6
times a year.
You should message me if
You weren't really into foreskins anyway :)
