My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Life is pretty silly and I try to ride with it as best as I can, and just laugh and appreciate where I am. Little things mean a lot to me: scents, small gestures of individuals. I can be transfixed by a sideways look or the way the light paints over some aspect of a person or a place; or if a person has a certain scent. I also think that conversation is a valid way to explore the world in addition to taking naps. I do have a creative side( i play guitar poorly, write, paint, people watch, love photography - my flickr:

But for my job I work with databases and computer programs (I fell into this after a work injury) as well as maps to augment scientists' efforts so I also have a fairly developed logical side, too.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Well, I don't climb rocks. Which seems to be odd behavior for the bay area. I've done many things in my career: I was an archaeologist for ten years, worked in wildlife/watershed conservation for five, during all of that i picked up GIS/programming/Database/Computer skills and now I used that experience to transition into work as a programmer/database guy for a local utility company. Granted, i am no longer running around Redwood forests and wineries nor am i out mapping/exploring ancient civilizations - but i am also no longer falling off three story cliffs or getting up at 5 in the morning to work 16 hour days. Changing priorities as i age, i guess.

Some things I do in my spare time:

- I’m working on a photo project in which I am photographing a masquerade mask 100 different ways. I find it to be a very fascinating project; I am forced to search for different perspectives for the same thing
- I play guitar very poorly, but i still enjoy it.
- I volunteer some spare time to help Orca whale researchers model the impact of human activity on pod behavior.
- i also volunteer at Pride as well as feminist/social causes.
- I write as a hobby. Even had an item or two published.
- i am currently trying to build a radio telescope so i can listen to Io interact with Jupiter. I am told (and have literally heard) that it sounds like ocean waves. How cool is that? Being able to listen to a cosmic waves lap on earth's shores with an instrument you got from NASA and built yourself?
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.

The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Depending on how long they've been in California, they notice I'm not from around here fairly quickly. Also, I tend to be noticed in crowds or in individual interactions. UPS/Fed Ex people always remember me after 1 meeting, bar tenders, waitresses... obviously something about me sticks in people's minds (or craw if they don't like me).

On one of my official performance reviews once a boss gave me props for my humor...

This is a big subject. Let's just say i am very eclectic in my tastes.
Reading wise i am big on modern poetry & short stories. I also like to read ancient greek & roman classics (Comes from my classical/archaeology background). I also just started getting back into egyptology, the mythology and the archaeology - such a crazy old civilization. Which of course has led me into Mesopotamian Culture - an even older, crazier civilization. It is so old that in fact in 3000 BC, they had archaeologists studying things that happened 1000 years ago from their time. Author wise: Margret Atwood, Anne Sexton, Leonard Cohen, Charles Bukowski, Catullus, Sappho, A E Stallings, others. I also read scientific non fiction, usually physics- astronomy related.

i know this isn't a category, but i have a soft spot for bettie page - love that 50's rock a billy vintage look.

music: Neko Case, Regina Spektor, Rob Zombie, Fiona Apple, Everclear, Emmylou Harris, Liz Phair, Leonard Cohen, The Cramps, Peggy Lee, Harry Chapin, Shawn Colvin, izzy Stradlin, and many more. I really am eclectic.

Movies/tv: Dark Crystal, Amelie, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Ground Hog's Day, LA Story, Mars needs women, Bridesmaids, Arrested Development, Harold & Maude,Steve Martin films, Casablanca, Wes Anderson films, What's eating Gilbert Grape, , & i enjoy documentaries. I also admit i liked star trek next generation.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
I wonder what goes on in people's heads.
When i am gone i wonder if my cats are having a party with out me.
I also think about space and quantum physics - that stuff is really mind blowing.

It is estimated the solar system looped around our galaxy over 20 times in the past 4.3 billion years. That shit cray.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I read poetry in the bathtub.

You are goofy/quirky. I have a soft spot for that type of woman.
Or if you are just comfortable with who you are - i so prefer people to be themselves and speak their mind. I will very much respect you for it, even if i don't agree. Differences can be just as exciting as similarities. Who wants to date a carbon copy of themselves?
You want to meet up in real life, preferably sooner rather than later.
Also, you aren't allergic to cats.
