My self-summary
I am technically an adult, but don't feel terribly mature most of the time. I do grown-up things like update my resume, cook, clean, pay my bills, and search for the best sushi in Seattle on Yelp. I also play some video games (new SimCity... uhhh... yay!?), watch cartoons, have been known to read comic books/graphic novels, and probably spend far too many hours on the internets in general. It’s a modern world, these things can probably co-exist.

Overall, I'm a spectacular human being.

More about me: Gets fussed when people use "lol" like it is punctuation. Plays tabletop games: Catan, Ascension, Dominion, Carcassonne, Cards Against Humanity, etc... Has never played a MMO. Not bad at poker, pretty good at pool, dreck bowler (but it’s still super fun to try). Prefers Coke over Pepsi. Does not particularly like cake. Obsesses over words. Believes in naps. Unable to juggle. Caustic wit. (Occasionally an asshole.) Will say terribly direct and slightly awful things just for effect. Does not believe in "bonus points." On paper I probably seem like more of a nerd than I really am, but I don't really know how to balance this out.

I spent my youth in Montana but now do not hike, ski, canoe, climb, or otherwise get out of the city much at all. Actually do know how to ride a horse, can also ride a bike. I do not have an iPhone because I am not interested in joining a cult - but it's okay if you are into that sort of thing. I like to read, it's important to me that I always have a book close at hand and another in the queue. I enjoy stories, questions, and explanations. I think that the experience of filling out an online dating profile is profoundly strange. This is not the best summary of who I am, but it's a start.

Self-Aggrandizing list:
• Pretty level-headed and down to earth
• Generous
• Recently presented with an award for being "The Best"
• There should be more, right?

Looking for: Someone who...
• has a great sense of humor.
• is a bit more spontaneous than I am.
• wants to travel.
• will challenge me/teach me new things.
has some of the same cultural touchstones.
What I’m doing with my life
I am not a huge fan of this question because I'm not totally sure.... Still searching for the best path forward but in the meantime I guess I am looking to experience the world and make a bunch of spectacular memories.
I’m really good at
• Cooking
• Space-planning
• Sleeping
• Taking care of my cat
• Making my bed almost every day
• Dancing when no one is looking
• Cheating at board games
• Never updating my blog (oh shit! I updated it 4x recently!)
• Writing really brief emails
• Believing that a picture is worth a thousand words
• Including pictures in really brief emails
• Insisting that I have written a 1000+ word email
• Holding my liquor
• Taking side streets
• Criticizing personal choices in architecture
• Talking shit about vinyl siding
• I also have lovely penmanship
The first things people usually notice about me
Depends. If they see me, it is probably that I am short. If they hear me, it is probably my laugh, or my sneeze. I don't normally ask people what they first notice about me so it's all a guessing game here folks.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Authors: Tom Holt, Jasper Fforde, Terry Pratchett, A. Lee Martinez, Jack Kerouac, Cory Doctorow, Clive Barker, Christopher Buckley, Christopher Moore, Ernest Cline, Neal Stephenson, Brandon Mull, Robert Rankin, Douglas Adams, J.R.R. Tolkien, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Hugh Howey, Laurie R. King, Kurt Vonnegut, Brian K. Vaughan, Orson Scott Card, Neil Gaiman.

Movie Genres: I generally like comedies, dramas, science fiction, and thrillers. I really don't like gory movies/torture porn. Years ago I was *forced* to go watch Dawn of the Dead, and still sometimes have scary dreams that incorporate imagery from that movie.

Movies: Moon, Brick, Primer, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, almost any SyFy Original Movie, Labyrinth, Big Fish, Dracula, Drop Dead Fred, all of the LOTR movies, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, The Neverending Story, Goonies, Hot Fuzz, Control, Total Recall, Christmas in Connecticut (1945), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Ronin, Poolhall Junkies, Battle Royale, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, The World's Greatest Lover (1977).

Shows: Eureka, Warehouse 13, Lost Girl, Rome, The Wire, Deadwood, Justified, Top Gear, Misfits, Venture Brothers, Dr. Who, Sherlock, Metalocalypse, Futurama, Justified, Better Off Ted, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Community, Big O, An Idiot Abroad, Trailer Park Boys, Star Trek (in general, though I like TNG and forward better than the Original Series), Stargate Universe, Merlin, Leverage, Dollhouse, The A-Team (I always love the weapon-building montage), Red Dwarf, Bob's Burgers, Grimm.

Music: 13 & God, AIR, Amanda Blank, The Antlers, Aphrodite, Apparat, Baths, Blockhead, Blonde Headhead, Bonobo, Breakbeat Era, BT, The Church, Crookers, The Cure, Daft Punk, Danger, David Bowie, Echo & The Bunnymen, Eels, Elbows, FreQ. Nasty, Hybrid, Joy Division, Kemistry & Storm, Loveage, M83, Morphine, Moloko, Mum, The Notwist, Peaches, Portishead, Ratatat, Squarepusher, Steed Lord, The The, Tricky... other stuff, this is just what was most recently played.

Food: I like pretty much all kinds, but have been thinking about this recently and if forced to choose one type of food to eat forever would select "curry" as this selection is nebulous and changeable enough that my mouth would never get bored.
The six things I could never do without
• Words
• A sense of place
• Corrective lenses
• Music
• Interesting questions/Great conversations
• Lakes, rivers, oceans...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How can I possibly communicate my true thoughts and feelings in 140 characters or less?

Was my last Twitter post super-obscene? Should I delete it?

How many days is it again until the new season of Venture Bros. begins?

Why am I still awake? It's far too late.
On a typical Friday night I am
Craving more? Or, hanging out with friends I guess. Trying to figure out the world around me and people's motivations. Maybe reading? Taking shots in my kitchen? Watching the previous week's SyFy Original movie? Screwing around on OKC? Trying to distill the day or week's memories into something worth putting pen to paper? Wondering what I will be when I grow up? I keep it pretty simple and close to home on a "typical" Friday night. The activity is closely paired with the hour.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
The most private thing? Naw. Here are some not-terribly-private things:

I have a cache of blank cards so that I don't have to run to the store if I find myself suddenly needing one. I've never been to the Grand Canyon. I'd like to take a hot air balloon ride. I've never met a puppy that didn't make me say "Awwww." Disneyworld figures in to my plans for the future. I write a lot of things down to 1) prevent myself from saying something supremely stupid and 2) in order to organize my thoughts.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 27–43
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
...any of the above sounds interesting and you would like to get together for some coffee, a drink, a game of pool, or... I don't know... anything else that sounds like a fun thing for two relative strangers to do together.

I'm quite serious when I say I am looking for people to date, yes, but also for friends. There are all sorts of really worthwhile people in the world and I don't feel like I have to take off my pants for all of them.
