My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
First off, you should know my name is Michael (dumb profile name I realize). Second, you should know that below is a very extensive description of who I am. If it's overwhelming, feel free to skim it and message me anyway! Here it goes:

Whether familial, fraternal, or intimate, my relationships define me more than anything else.

I come from a big family in size and number: there are six of us and we’re all six feet tall or taller! I love our family reunions where there’s always promise to be southern, filling food, stomach-ache level laughing, and a rare group of people who are at once as competitive and loving as I am. While I am strikingly different from my family (they are incredibly religious and conservative), we have an abiding love for one another that more than overcomes our differences. They are insanely important to me and I will go to great ends to support them.

In general, I am slow to trust others, but with time I come to trust completely. Once there, I am one of the most caring, loyal friends you will meet. I’m an extrovert at heart and love that I have friends from diverse ages, walks of life, cultures, and countries. I’m probably one of the most romantic people you’ll meet. As I’m hesitant about relationships, I let my friendships be my romantic outlet. Thus, sunset picnics with friends are my favorite. Have you been at town lake, the Hancock Golf Course, Mount Bonnell, and the Capitol at sunset? You should. Bike rides. Sleep overs. Wine and reading. Sharing stories. Bougie brunches. Jazz bars. Art. Performances. Spontaneous road trips. Letters of gratitude. These are a few of my favorite things.

I take intimate relationships as seriously as the rest. I want to find a partner in adventure and eventually have a family of our own. This said, I am not looking to rush into anything. I’ve done that before and no longer entertain unrealistic ideas of what love ought to be. I have a well-defined sense of self and purpose. I am not looking for someone to complete my life, but rather someone with whom I can share it.

In general, I strive to be balanced and open-minded. I want to work hard so that I can play hard. I want to recognize my needs and fulfill these while aiding those around me and striving to have a positive impact on the world. I am competitive, resolute, and at times stubborn. I get along with almost all people I encounter and love to get to know what makes people who they are. I am unapologetically optimistic but my optimism is tempered with experience, and my positive expectations for the future are backed with intentional hard work. Always, in everything I do, I seek to be on a path of constant improvement and self-discovery. Each stage of life has unique beauty and I can’t wait fully experience all of it (who wouldn't want to be a sweet grandpa one day?).

My goal in writing this profile is create an honest snapshot of my ever-changing life in the hope that I can attract true friends and relationships. Hope you enjoy!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am a Senior at the University of Texas at Austin where I study Petroleum Engineering. Come January, I will begin some world travel which will include studying abroad for 6 months in the Netherlands (in Delft). After this, I will return to the States and move just north of New Orleans to begin full-time work with Chevron. As an up-and-coming yuppie, my career is among my priorities. I thoroughly enjoy putting in a good days work and constantly think of self-improvement.

While my next five years are fairly clear, my next ten hold several opportunities. After a few years, I will seriously consider law school (perhaps patent law or corporate law), an MBA (and further work in the corporate world in an engineering management role), a finance degree (and a transition to oil and gas finance), or if I desire, just about anything that I feel like changing too.

In the meantime, I am attempting to prepare for each of these paths via self-education,networking, and trying my hand at entrepreneurial ventures on the side. If any of this interests you, let me know and I’d love to chat!

I'm so bad at pop culture references that I considered making flash cards.

Despite developing fancy tastes, I use the smell/look test to determine if I'll wear not only my jeans, but all of my clothes.

When something beautiful or sad hits me unaware, I'm likely shed a few tears.

Being single, I snuggle with my pillows every night; it's a toss up as for who's going to be big spoon.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you are looking to expand your network, think we might be friends, or want to go on a date. If you are driven and know who you are. If you want to go on an adventure. If you do romantic things with your friends too. If you are consumed by passion for what you do. If you’re incredibly similar to me. If you’re incredibly different from me. If you’re honest, and generally direct. If you are open to coffee with a stranger.

Disclaimer: Thoughtful messages are much more apt to catch my interest, and if you catch my interest I will want to go for coffee almost immediately (I’m a face-to-face type of guy).
