My Self-Summary

I've found that I don't fit well into categories. I'm pretty much a nerd, but I lack the academic credentials. I like hard rock and heavy metal concerts, but I only mosh on grass because it's safer there. I'm an overachieving slacker, or an underachieving genius, one of the two.

I was recently accused of being a "know-it-all," which bugs me a little. I don't go around flaunting random bits of knowledge, but I do seem to know a lot about a lot of random topics. And, if there's something I don't know, I'm eager to learn about it. I'm just never satisfied with not knowing about a topic.

What I’m doing with my life

Finishing up with community college, I've applied for a transfer to Towson after this coming semester. I'm studying physics, with one of two goals after my undergrad degree:

1) Move on to a physics or astronomy Ph.D program.

2) Get my Masters of Arts in Teaching and become a high school physics teacher.

While I'm at school, I'm still working full time at Sleepy's as a salesperson. Of course, I don't think of it as selling mattresses... I'm selling how my customers are going to feel every morning when they wake up for the next 10 years of their life. And yes, I actually believe that.

I’m really good at

Chess, Scrabble, and Guitar Hero. Also, Newtonian physics, apparently.

The first things people usually notice about me

The fact that I exist, and that I am a male.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Anything by Carl Sagan. I mainly like non-fiction, including biographies and popular science books. Born on a Blue Day, Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman, Adventure Capitalist, Death from the Skies, The Pluto Files.

Movies: Comedies... Pretty much all Monty Python and Mel Brooks. Also, big epics, like Lord of the Rings and Braveheart.

Music: Rock. Among my favorites are Papa Roach, Rise Against, and Serj Tankian.

Foods: Italian food, mainly, such as pasta, and chicken caesar salads. Also, typical unhealthy stuff like pizza and burgers.

I finished Stephen Hawking's "A Brief History of Time" in one sitting. I'm not sure if I should be proud or ashamed.
