I've been in Boise for about 4 years now, but my job has worn me down significantly to where it feels like I need to make a change. I'm considering a move back to Seattle, where I can be close to family and nerd out all at the same time.
I've got a kayak, motorcycle, and various musical instruments that all need some serious attention in the near future.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an engineer working on R&D computer memory, in testing how they work and stressing them to the limits. It's sort of like Mythbusters at a microscopic level. I tend to go into a detailed explanation about how I test chips, and then when I realize I've gone too in-depth, I just say "I control giant robots" and that clears things up.
I'm doing indie video game work on the side, lots of coding from scratch. I'd like to do some scores for short films, but that's yet another time sink.
I’m really good at
Writing music. I play the cello, a bit of guitar, and have a digital audio workstation dedicated to creating fully digital tracks with a virtual orchestra. Happy to share tracks for anyone who wants to listen.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm not very talkative at first. It takes a little while for me to warm up to conversation that isn't just completely awkward.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies: Disney owns most of my favorite franchises now, like Tron, Marvel films, and (naturally) Star Wars. Since I also like Disney animated movies, especially their newest CGI films as well as Pixar's stuff, it sums things up quite nicely.
TV: Drunk History, @midnight, Daily Show, Jimmy Fallon, whatever pops up on Hulu mostly. Plus, Disney stuff again (Tron Uprising, Star Wars Rebels...) I've got my franchises all locked in. Maybe some anime from a time before years started with a 2.
Books: Shannara series, I haven't read much else lately. Trying to get into some cyberpunk novels but that's tough for whatever reason.
Music: Since I write music, I listen to all sorts of things for different influences, but it's usually pretty eclectic stuff and I'm often finding myself listening to covers of songs in different styles. Because of this, I tend to like groups like Pentatonix and The Piano Guys.
Video games: I play a lot of games on my Wii U lately, like Smash Bros. I'm writing code for some old arcade brawler-type games, as well.
The six things I could never do without
A good set of allen wrenches
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Getting back to Seattle, tasks for work, all the artistic and musical projects I want to finish (or start) someday.
On a typical Friday night I am
I somehow always end up home late on a Friday night, so usually I'm talking to friends on Twitter and watching whatever's in my Hulu queue.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'll figure something out for here later.
You should message me if
If you're a fellow Star Wars fan, always happy to chat.
If you're also overworked. It's nice to have someone to blow off some steam with.
If you're a fellow musician, I always enjoy talking about it and maybe even sharing works or collaborating on something.
