My self-summary
Most of my education has been in Fine Art and Critical Theory. I make work on paper. I read a lot. I write a lot. If I'm not in the studio, I'm in the kitchen. I love to cook, and am an avid student of French, Indian, and Southern American cuisine. I'm happy involving myself with folks who share my interests, or who are very different from me. I will always fall for a good brain.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm back in California after a long hiatus. Teaching painting, making drawings, cooking up miracles, and having a wonderful time in my favorite city (that's Oakland)!

Here's a link to some of my work:

(it's all just the pencil stuff)
I’m really good at
Summoning spirits. Staying in bed. Jokes in the moment. Reading alone in a crowd. Making friends with hesitant people. Chain reactions. Slow, careful, tedious tasks. Easing tensions. Stirring up a bit of trouble. Blending perfumes. Endless stories. Interrupting. Thinking. Listening. Interrupting. Thinking.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have an on-again, off-again semi-ironic mustache. It comes and goes based on how comfortable I am with the John Waters comments.

I have recently been experimenting with a variety of homemade haircuts (rotating on a monthly basis). They have been called variously:
artsy, unfortunate, anachronistic, punky, bewildering, suave

Serious brown eyes. Remarkable snaggleteeth.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Recipes. Pictures. The Neolithic Revolution. What shirt to wear. Bodies. Colors. Stories. Histories. Songs.
On a typical Friday night I am
Maybe having a drink with friends.

Maybe leaning over a drafting table, fiddling with pencils.

Maybe chopping and stirring and currying.

(on a great Friday night I might fit in all three)
