My self-summary
Born in Silkeborg - 150-year-old city founded upon the succes of a paper factory - childhood there, frequent trips to Israel, high school in Silkeborg, a stay in Paris and have since studied musicology, also at the University of Aarhus, been taking a break a year's time in Berlin while marvelling at the people and the art and the openness and the friendliness, the last of which is somewhat more concealed in the Copenhagen that is now my residence. I'm doing my thesis now on music, language and human origins. Or something like that.
What I’m doing with my life
Karate, singing, thesis, travelling, thinking-a-lot, obsessing and then relaxing, always aiming to meet interesting people who are passionate about stuff that I've never even heard about, playing the darbouka at a beginner's level, love everybody who deserves it and maybe also a couple who don't ;), missing some of the people in whose city I no longer live - keeping up contact through Skype and phone, hoping to be able to live half of the year away from Denmark and go somewhere warmer (once I'm rich), learning new languages, thinking about reading more academic texts.
I’m really good at
Spelling. Boring but true.
The first things people usually notice about me
Due to the fact that I live in Denmark, where people are generally quite tall people seem to notice that I'm smaller than most others here. In Israel I don't get that so often. Which is nice.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The last book I've read that I liked a lot was number9dream by David Mitchell. Very moving, very poetic. I think Eiji Miyake is my favourite main character in a book ever. You just want to hug him and tell him everything will be alright... Uh, and Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon! Dark, funny and WEIRD in the best kind of way. Stuff by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett... Movies: most beautiful in my opinion is Persepolis and Les Triplettes de Belleville. I don't hate Terminator 2 though...
TV-shows: Firefly....and besides that almost everything by Joss Whedon. Music: very hard question... I just missed Suede at a festival in Aarhus which was hard :( but M.I.A. and Polly Jean are playing Roskilde where I've also heard Björk, Sigur Ròs and Gogol Bordello so i might survive. Yasmin Levy was great in Berlin... Various Flamenco singing...everything that really "means it"... might be punk, metal, ska, reggae...as long as the spirit is there I'm in.
Food: Everything with taste except for insects and maybe a couple of other animals.
The six things I could never do without
Science fiction. Karate. Friends. Love. Happiness. Strangeness. In no particular order (I haven't given this A LOT of thought so bear with me)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything. Feminist issues. Alternative spaces and how few of them there are in Copenhagen. Israel. How to reach your full potential. The way people interact. How even in a country like Denmark we can't get rid of stereotypes regarding gender and how boring that whole thing is. What life is going to be like after the thesis...
On a typical Friday night I am
I don't think there are any typical friday nights... But let me think... this friday I watched The Matrix again for the first time since number 3...and realized that it had been spoofed to death. Too bad, I really liked it then... The friday before that I spent at Distortion, a Copenhagen street festival with electronic music but couldn't really find good spots for dancing so ended up at a concert with some friends of mine in another part of town and we had some falafel in between. Before that it was a party at a friend's house and that is as far back as I can remember.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I like "Everything I do, I do it for you" by Brian Adams very much.
