So I pose these question to you okc-ers:

  • What top 5 songs have you been listening to lately?

  • What top 5 songs can't you live without?

My answers:

Well the top 5 songs I have been listening to this past weekwould probably be (in no particular order mind you):

  1. RuPaul "Jealous of my Boogie"  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHfVgKM5gMA Heythe drag race show is fabulous and I super duper want to dance tothis track! :D
  2. Brooks and Dunn "Play Something Country" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQML3jIC_9I Istill haven't recovered from seeing them live and in person attheir farewell tour.  Damn sometimes it's just good to rockout to some country :D
  3. Interpol "C'mere" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vaDw4CAcXVE Becausethis song is just fucking good, point, blank, period <3
  4. Ra Ra Riot "'Can You Tell" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=asY08yquddo Myfriend Robert introduced this song to me a few weeks ago and it'sjust too sweet that I can't help listening to it over and overagain.  It's definitely a song that makes me long to be 17years old again and "in crush."  That feeling never gets old<3
  5. Shane Tsukayama performing a cover of "Nothing Can Change ThisLove" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCWhvoBXMME&playnext_from=TL&videos=OVyufkJUz8s Okay,I know this guy is doing a cover of a song, but damn I can't stoplistening to it.  Something about the way he sings, it justmakes me feel super happy to see someone feel the music the way Ido deep down in my soul <3

As far as top 5 songs I can't live without - geebus, that'sgoing to be a hard one.  I'm not sure I can declare a top 5,as I probably really have at least top 1,000 songs I couldn't livewithout, but in the interest of me being able to go to sleep withinthe next century I'll just list 5 of my most favorite and treasuredsongs without which I would be lost in life.

  1. Otis Redding "I've Been Loving You Too Long" live from theMonterey Pop Festival, 1967 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBiUFhYMu2s HowI would give anything to have been there at that concert. Otis is...beyond what my words can describe.  His passion, hislove, just exudes from him.  I strive to have the same passionand love for life that he does.
  2. Sam Cooke "A Change is Going to Come" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQU4torUz-Q Ican't even begin to explain what this song means to me, but I'lltry.  Without divulging too much about my life andmy past I will say this song has gotten me through some roughtimes.  The hope I feel and the trust I feel that a change isgon' come is what keeps me pushing forward even when I feel like Ihave no more oomph to give.  This song gives me the oomph tokeep going <3
  3. Dobie Gray "Drift Away" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaPnOASOWIU Afterall, I am "rhythm, rhyme, and harmony", right? :)  Word forword, this song is my life.  All I need is the beat to free mysoul - I have to get lost in your rock and roll.  To this songI must give thanks for the joy that you've given me.  I wantyou to know I believe in your song.  Rhythm, rhyme and harmony- help me along, making me strong <3
  4. Fuel "Shimmer" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0QMfK9hzgA Thissong, wow.  This song I've probably listened to I'm notkidding you maybe over 5,000 times.  The lyrics are justfantastic and so is the emotion in this song.  And I know wehave all felt this way at least a few times in our life. Being almost 26 I now know that not ALL things that shimmer fade, but it is true that SOME things that shimmer in this world do fadeaway and for those things I have this song to listen to to comfortme :)
  5. Peter and Gordon "A World Without Love" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_lJPUKTchI Foras much as people like to call me a "modern woman" I find that manyof my most treasured and favorite songs come from the previousgeneration's era.  This message is simple and pure - I won'tlive in a world without love.  People may make fun of me fortaking chances in friendship and love or the fact thatI continue to be kind to people who show me nothing butmeanness, but I refuse to let it get to me.  I'm not going tolie, sometimes yes, it does get to me and I will feel hurt, but Irefuse to let my heart harden and become a mean individual and actin the same way back.  I won't do it as I just cannot live ina world without being able to express love.

Ok, okc-ers your turn.  If you don't like those twocategories you can come up with some other top 5 lists you'd liketo write about.  I am always up for new music and hearingpeople's thoughts on music :D

top five songs currently going through my head,
1. "vermillion part 2" by slipknot.
it has an unique way of describing the way people think of someone.
2. "I'm yours" by Jason Mraz
3. "insomniac" in the style of straight no chaser. acapella is interesting and this song is done justice with the style.
4. "i can't stop this feeling" both versions the original and the one known for the ooga chaga's.
5. "doolin dalton" by the eagles. These guys rock.

top 5 all times
1."Beginings" by chicago. first performed on CTA (or chicago 1) 1968
2. "cupid"
3. "little deuce coupe" by the beach boys, brian wilson and his infamous 7th chord that helped create the beach sound that groups have duplicated for decades (manfred man, class reunion just to name two)
4. "pretty maids all in a row" by the eagles featuring joe walsh on lead vocal. very nice we all "grow up" song
5. "long train running" by the doobie brothers.

this was difficult... thanks for making me think about this. my personal all time fav genre is 6o's and 70's rock.

What do we see

Nov 18, 2009

what do we see when looking at each others profile?  I personally see ways in which to attempt to strike up a conversation or a way in which to let you know "hey, i just checked you out".  More importantly though is what do you see when you look at a profile?  I try my best to at least send one letter, maybe even a wink just to say yes, yes i am thinking about this.  Maybe i should be more forward in my approach, could that be it? I am not forward enough?  I like looking at the profiles that the sight says are in my best interest (based on the percentage at the top) and slowly find ways to broach an initial conversation that will induce a reply from the reciever.  Ahhh, too much to think about.  catch you all later.
