My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I like to run occasionally but have been nursing a knee injury, so it's mostly been hiking and yoga for physical activities lately. May start integrating time in the gym too if there are any gym rats out there looking for a workout partner :-) I also love to read and watch movies but I rarely find the time to get to the cinema. Prefer beer to wine or mixed drinks (although I do like malbecs and margaritas), and I enjoy good tequilas, but I drink infrequently. Unless it's water.... My grandfather's been drinking massive amounts of water out of his mason jar for over 90 years and it seems to be working pretty well for him, so I try to follow suit.

2013 was all about travel inside the US, and I visited several National Parks. This year I'll be heading for Hawaii for the first time, and hopefully Esalen at some point too, and then a trip to Mexico with my family. Thailand's pretty high on my list for next year, but I also might head back down to South America. Argentina's one of the best places I've ever been to, miss the mate' gourd and the people, and some parts of AR are spectuacularly beautiful :-)

I'm a bit of a minimalist and would rather have a few nice things than lots of average or crappy things. My present car is a notable exception, as I am undergoing an experiment to see how far I get before the wheels fall off. The experiment has been going in earnest for a couple years now, and I'm fascinated with it's resilience especially since it's a Chevy. The Japanese engine and transmission seem to be holding it together though, as most of the trim and paint is a pretty lost cause. (UPDATE): Recently got word that fixing the leak in the AC will cost more than the car is worth, so this may prematurely conclude the experiment. My passengers don't don't see the value of the experiment as much as I do, and don't appreciate the experience of riding around in a mobile sauna (despite their noted health benefits).

Not much of a TV guy, prefer reading more. Netflix movies and the theater are fun though.

I collect quotes... One of my current favorites is "Make sure your autobiography is the thickest book on the shelf". I'm looking forward to adding a few chapters soon, perhaps with you??? ;-P
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm pretty tall and have a strong jaw. I also used to get a lot of compliments on how people could do their laundry on my abs, but unfortunately my abs have been looking a bit more like the gentle cycle lately...

Big category! Off the top of my head for books, love Neil Gaiman, Stephen King, Paulo Coelho (Alchemist, Brida, Pilgrimage), Jonathan Kellerman, William Gibson, Warren Ellis, Alan Moore, Charles Stross, and Grant Morrison (The Invisibles). Dan Simmons' Hyperion series is one of the most amazing things I've ever read, and "Shadow of the Wind" is one of my more recent favorite finds. Latest book I've read that blew me away is called "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand. Amazing biography by the same lady who wrote "Seabiscuit", equal parts unbelievable and inspirational.

Movies: Exit Through the Gift Shop, Avatar, 180 Degrees South, South Park the movie, No Country For Old Men, The Big Lebowski, Into Thin Air, all movies by Christopher Nolan. To my shame, I also loved Borat and the Jackass trilogy. Princess Bride's one of my favorite movies of all time.

Shows: Dexter, Damages, Office, Simpsons, Mad Men, House of Cards, currently working through Breaking Bad....

Music: Really big category: FSOL, DCD, Muse, The Cure, Crystal Method, Sisters of Mercy, Queensryche (Mindcrime and Empire), REM, Joseph Arthur, Beastie Boys, Seal, Primus, Faith No More, Pink Floyd, NOFX, Of Montreal, Delerium, Tool, and older Metallica. Oh, and of course Journey!

Food's easy, love most of it, but Mexican's my go-to. El Zarape's one of my all-time faves (the taco shop more than the second location, why mess with a good thing?)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Good friends and family
Workout clothes
Good book
My Iphone
Sunscreen (otherwise I turn into Red James)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The answer to life, the Universe, and everything. And Mexican food. Which I'm pretty sure is a big part of "42".
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Normally doing something fun, hanging out with friends, looking to see a show, watching a movie, relaxing at home. About the same as every other night...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Pretty much anything in person!
