My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I am a mid-western girl at heart, transplanted to AZ 20 years ago. I have been a single mother for the last 7 years, after being happily married for 18. I have a professional career and an independent spirit. But I prefer being in a relationship – and I think I’m good at it. Maybe it comes from knowing how to make good choices for myself in men, maybe I have been lucky -- but I have had many amazing relationships. So no Desperate Debbie or Baggage Betty here. Let’s spend time together because we want to, and because whenever we do – we have a BLAST!!!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am enjoying my two amazing sons as they finish college, and excited to watch them make their own choices and begin their own lives (I am humbled by how smart and cool they are...) I am putting in too many hours at the office, and have to keep reminding myself about what is really important...
I guess you could say I am well-educated and well-traveled, which only makes me hungry for more of both. So I am always learning something new (mind mapping this month) and either traveling somewhere or planning my next trip.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening to others and offering support (Psychologist, by training), the NY Times crossword puzzle, taking care of myself, Scrabble, seeing the best in others and making the best of most situations, project management, belly- laughing, mid-century modern design.
The first things people usually notice about me

I’m a fairly prolific reader – mostly non-fiction. Last week I read “Canada”, by Richard Ford. (Which I highly recommend!). Love Karen Armstrong, Augusten Burroughs, Pat Conroy, David Sedaris, Jeffrey Eugenides, John Irving, John Krakaur, Wally Lamb, Thomas Merton, Ann Patchett, (I could go on...). Have subscriptions to 12 magazines. I like all kinds of movies, but seem to drift toward documentaries. Love alternative and classic rock, pop, dub step, reggae, some jazz... Guilty pleasure is reality TV. Current show I love to hate: Toddlers & Tiaras (how can you NOT stop watching that train wreck!?!?...)
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. My sons
2. Great coffee in the morning
3. Sisters
4. Books
5. Clean sheets
6. Family & friends
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
My kids, my family, my friends... Mostly, I try to stay present in the moment, and not dwell on the past or worry about the future.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
eagerly looking forward to: taking a yoga class or getting in a hike before dark, meeting with my Book Club, having cocktails with friends, playing with my puppy at the dog park, packing for a weekend get-away, ordering in a pizza for a movie night, or relaxing in the bathtub and crawling into bed (clean sheets!) early.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I love to sing, and know the lyrics to almost every song – but I am tone deaf!!! Yep – can’t carry a tune. (You must know that this does not stop me from singing all the time – even in public...
