I am nice, cuddly, and affectionate.

My Self-Summary

I'm not an easy read, but I AM a quick study.

I'm a pretty quiet guy. Shy-ish. Not into the whole small-talk thing. I don't have much patience for meaningless chatter but, since I don't generally have much to say, I guess that makes me a pretty good listener.

On the odd occasion that I actually have something to say, I try to choose my words very carefully. Take what I say at face value.

I am a caretaker by nature. I encourage, I nurture, and sometimes (and I should really work on this) I enable.

If you come to me with a problem, I will be what you need me to be - a sympathetic ear, a shoulder to cry on, et-cetera, but also expect me to explore solution options with you.

I don't suffer witless stupidity well, and will likely need to go stomp something after dealing with it. Intentional stupidity done for the sake of humor I can deal with.

I have more interests than any one person should ever be allowed to have, and I lack sufficient direction to pursue any one of them. I guess I really am a JOATMON.

I'm my own worst critic, in absolutely everything I do.

I am 420-friendly, but I don't smoke it myself.

I love to sing, but I won't proclaim myself an excellent singer by any stretch of the imagination.

I am BodyMod/Queer/Poly friendly.

I'm very affectionate, physically as well as verbally - I love to hug, scratch backs, give compliments, rub shoulders, stroke hair (especially long hair) and otherwise show appreciation. Show me an honest smile in return, and it will have been worth it.

Nobody on this site has any obligation to me for posting a profile and putting myself out there. I don't play mind games. I am solely accountable and responsible for my own choices and actions.

I like to think of myself as a simple guy, but going back and re-reading some of this self-indulgent tripe leads me to think that I might not be so simple after all. I'll have to look into that at some point.

Here I am. Do with me what you will.

I'm easy. Take that however you'd like to.

What I’m doing with my life

Trying to find work in this horrendous job market.

Trying to find myself some focus.

Being too laid-back for my own good.

I’m really good at

Being a social chameleon. I feed on the conversational energy around me and, as a result, am able to get along with almost anyone. Smaller groups are better; too many people is an overload and I just sorta shut down.

Messing with computers. I'm a Systems Administrator by trade. Linux and Windows. Haven't touched a modern Mac, but I wouldn't mind if I could ever afford a good one.

Proofreading/spelling/grammar. I was raised by a Word Processing Specialist/Medical Transcriptionist.

Making people laugh, intentionally or not.

Mental math. I seem to have a sort of spatial relationship with numbers.

Remembering odd things.

Music. I haven't actually played anything in ages, but I used to play a little piano by ear. I'm also somewhat...percussive... I sometimes tap out rhythms on my desk. I LOVE to sing.

Playing bass on Rock Band (medium-hard, depending on song)

The first things people usually notice about me

I've no idea. Nobody's ever told me such things.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Sci-Fi all the way, though I'm terribly under-read, all things considered. Favorites include Dune, The Hitch-Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy (all four!), Stranger In a Strange Land (Heinlein), The Cat who Walks Through Walls (more Heinlein), Glory Lane (Alan Dean Foster - fun but quick read), The Apprentice Adept series (Piers Anthony - youth-oriented sci-fi/fantasy, but I still liked them)

Movies:
Sci-Fi, action/adventure, comedy, sometimes drama. Not really into chick flicks per se, but I've been known to watch (and even enjoy!) them occasionally with a suitable partner. Just got addicted to "Repo! the Genetic Opera."

Music:
More to list here than Movies. My collection is rather eclectic. Genre-wise I'm primarily hard rock/heavy metal with some electronica thrown in for good measure. None of that guttural grunting throaty nonsense for me though, thank you (with the exception of one album). The music I love has razor-sharp shredding guitars with a nicely complex but not-overwhelming bassline, thundering percussion (loud, fast, coordinated) and melodic vocals.

You will also find quite a mixture of tastes in my music collection: 80s, oldies, pop, new-age (Kitaro, Ray Lynch...), foreign language music (Japanese (incl. anime), German, Russian), movie soundtracks, Trance, electro-pop...I have ~500 or so CDs, plus whatever I've downloaded over the years.

Again, just got addicted to the soundtrack to "Repo! the Genetic Opera."

Food:
I'm pretty basic in the food arena. Meat, rice or pasta (depending on the dish's country of origin, with a complementary sauce) and some sort of veggie (broccoli is a favorite here). I have a very non-spicy palate. I want the flavor, not the burn.

The six things I could never do without

Computers/technology (GEEK ALERT!)
Music (typically loud)
Friends
Senses (most prominently including the one called "common.")
Caffeine (No coffee for me, though, thanks!)
Physical affection (Wide range here, not just sex)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What I'd like in my next relationship.

The sound of the music playing in my head.

The job market here in the Bay Area.

How it is that OKC thinks I'm only a 98% match...with myself...

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'll answer, with honesty, any question you feel like asking me.

You should message me if

You find me vaguely interesting.
