I enjoy being around women who laugh easily and always have something to talk about. I have the most respect for independent people with inner strength, who know what they want, and keep
trying to get it no matter the obstacles. I think emotional intelligence is as important as IQ.

I split my time between being a cog in a corporate machine, and volunteering for organizations I care about.

- Books: I like reading nonfiction about interesting people or things – Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Detroit, cocaine, medieval popes, etc. I got a great book for Christmas called "The Dictionary of Paradox".

- Movies: Two of my favorite movies were Pan's Labyrinth and District 9. When I go to see a movie, I want it to show me something I haven't seen before and have a plot I can't predict. I often like movies made by the Coens, Guillermo del Toro, or Quentin Tarantino.

- Shows: I occasionally watch an NFL game but not much else on TV. When I had cable, my favorite shows were things like How It's Made and Mythbusters.

- Music: I went to some of the Alive at Five concerts last summer, without assuming I knew in advance what I would like. I went to the Jazz Festival in Albany in 2011, even though I don’t really know anything about jazz. I want to experience more live local music - I don't feel like buying or downloading music much these days. I used to listen to music like PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, Firewater, Jennifer Charles, and The Jesus Lizard. Usually my car radio is on classic rock, hip-hop, or classical (especially baroque).
