My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi, my name is Jarys. I am geeky and romantic. I have a BA in History and recently earned my teaching credential. I'm quite bookish, and an avid sci-fi / fantasy geek. Some of my interests are video games ( <3 Deus Ex), philosophy, history, and hiking. I'm a fan of exploring SF by foot, which amounts to urban hiking (soooo many hills! ;-) )

Some other items that rattle around in my Noggin:
Sumerian History (I have a tattoo on my chest that incorporates cuneiform, I'm quite happy with it, see? -> :D)
Sandwiches (nothing beats salmon & cheese with pesto on ciabatta)
Star Wars
Comics, especially "Y the Last Man" and Spider-Man
Books, books, books
Role Playing games, esp. Mage: The Ascension
Eddie Izzard
Articulate discussion of life's mysteries
The Daily Show
Improv I took classes as a kid.
The Colbert Report
Gender politics and social issues related to same

Also, I am queer. I'm attracted to men, women, and others.

I am a teacher, thoughtful, and funny
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I finished my 7th year of college and am finally a teacher. I work at the Fei Tian Academy of Arts in San Francisco, teaching English and History. I have long been infatuated with History, and by the end of High School, knew I wanted to teach. I have a BA in History and a Teaching Credential from California, via SF State
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Playing the devil's advocate.
Keeping perspective and respecting yours.
Getting into crushes
Getting out of crushes.
Inspiring good feelings.
Being there for my friends.
Breaking the fourth wall.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My personality, it's HUUUUUUGE.
Honestly, I am told my jawline and smile stand out.
Some people, lucky enough to see it, have complimented me on my build.
Also, note that these days I am rocking a short beard.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Let's start with books. The following is a compendium of science fiction and fantasy, though my interests are not limited to those two categories:

Before 1901: Frankenstein, anything Shakespeare though not for the romance

After 1901: DISCWORLD (I LOVE Sam Vimes, and I am especially partial to allegorical philosophy), the Dresden Files, the Codex Alera, anything by Christopher Moore, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Orphans of Chaos, The Wraith Squadron and New Jedi Order books, Siddhartha, Cryptonomicon, Snow Crash, Diamond Age, the Baroque Cycle, Anathem, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, and Robota.

Now on to food:
Did I mention Sandwiches?

As for music: I like Swing revival, oldies, punk, a capella, and what have you. My approximate range of disparate bands are Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Weird Al Yancovich, Rage Against the Machine, and Jonathon Coulton,

As for movies and TV shoes: My favorite movies of all time are the original Star Wars Trilogy, Schindler's List, Seven Samurai, The Matrix Trilogy (yes, all of them, don't judge me ;) ), Moonstruck, Monty Python, You Only Live Twice, Goodnight and Good Luck, Kill Bill, Oh Brother Where Art Thou?, District 9, Heroes, Angel, Buffy (though there is a story about that), Firefly, Castle, Mythbusters....Kung Fu, Hustle, Shaolin Soccer, Hot Fuzz, The Diehard series, Clerks, Indiana Jones, THE LOST BOYS!!!, The Karate Kid.

And boardgames: Betrayal at House on the Hill, A Touch of Evil, Risk, and Apples to Apples, or better yet... Cards Against Humanity
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
-my coat and scarf, they keep me warm and I like the look
-people cannot be things, but my friends and family
-a warm bed to go home to
-my computer and an internet connection
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
How to teach and present history

Wouldn't it be cool if........

what song would be appropriate for the current soundtrack of my life. If I am outside or alone, I then tend to sing it.

My viewpoint, other possible viewpoints, and how the two might meet

The social aspects of gender. I'd say social justice, but I genuinely wish the best for all people and "social justice" as a phrase just seems to fall short. It's why I'm into socialist democracy.

the people I cherish and spending time with them

What do you think about?
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Playing a game of Munchkin or Betrayal with my friends.. Sometimes we go out, grab food, talk, and we might see a movie.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am gender-queer. That means a lot of different to a lot of different people. I'd be more than happy to explain were we to meet in person and I prefer those who can be understanding of this complicated part of my life.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You want to make a funny, geeky Penpal.
Or if you want to have a thoughtful conversation about life, the universe, and everything.
Or if you're trans and tired of transphobic bullshit (I consider myself a trans ally. I put the "Ally" in Rebel Alliance)
Or if you are interested in dating or meeting up.
Or if you are an Alien.... or a robot. I would keep your secret from Agent Mulder.
Or if you are a kinky top (biting please...and ropes. I can switch).
