I'm a recent college grad, a mom, a sometimes freelance graphic
artist, and seeing someone. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree
in
Graphics and Fine Arts.
Ended up on this site after taking an unflattering personality
test. Came to satiate curiosity (why the guerrilla recruiting
tactics for people NOT interested in dating?) and to take more
quizzes.
Re-connecting with family. Finding old friends on Facebook. Seeing
someone. Looking for a better job. Pondering a return to school to
learn web design. Fighting a losing battle with the ants in my new
apartment. Tinkering restlessly with my profile. Among other
things.
Have a pleasant singing voice. Also have a brand new appreciation
of three-dimensional artwork. Have recently exhibited my
assemblages in a local
art expo. Intend to do
it again.
I'm really bad at:
Math, dancing, swimming, and most organized sports.
Green eyes (and apparently, my eyebrows). On the flip side, the
last thing they notice is that I'm older than I look (or that I'm
seeing someone). Great for blending in the college classroom,
terrible curse when job hunting.
Last good book I read was "Only Joking" by Jimmy Carr and Lucy
Greeves. My to-be-read list is getting infinitely longer, and
includes "The Alchemist". Favorite authors are Ray Bradbury (the
short stories) and the late Douglas Adams.
Have a few favorite movies, esp The Princess Bride, Groundhog Day,
Raising
Arizona,
The
Jerk, the Evil Dead movies,
Army of Darkness, Death to
Smoochy, Monty Python and the Holy Grail (but who doesn't love that
one, right?), The Big Lebowski, Bladerunner, The Pink Panther
movies (Peter Sellers), Cemetary Man, Oh Brother, Where Art Thou,
Office Space, What About Bob, The Impostors (Stanley Tucci, Oliver
Platt...) almost anything with Bruce Willis (including Hudson Hawk,
excluding Last Man Standing-ugh) and almost anything by Tim Burton
or Mel Brooks.
I love Warner Brothers cartoons, they are the best ever:

I like a lot of singer-songwriters; Billy Joel, Tori Amos, Alana
Davis, James Taylor... Current favorites are Rachel Zamsteen, Matt
Nathanson, Imogen Heap, and Ben Folds.
All-Time Favorite albums: (in no particular order)
Graceland (Paul Simon)
Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic (The Sundays)
Flood (They Might Be Giants)
Boys For Pele (Tori Amos)
Blame It On Me (Alana Davis)
Fear (Toad the Wet Sprocket)
Details (Frou Frou-Imogen Heap)
Under the Table and Dreaming (DMB)
Practical Magic (sdtk)
A Few Favorite Songs:
Marianne (Tori Amos)
Walk This Way (Aerosmith)
A Day in the Life (The Beatles)
My Favorite Mistake (Sheryl Crow)
32 Flavors (cover by Alana Davis)
Ants Marching (DMB)
Let Go (Imogen Heap w/Guy Sigsworth)
Basement Apt. (Sarah Harmer)
Delicious Surprise (Beth Hart)
Mr Brightside (The Killers)
In The End (Linkin Park)
Coal (Michael Penn)
Try Not to Breathe (REM)
Today (Smashing Pumpkins)
Interstate Love Song (STP)
Copperline (James Taylor)
Semi-Charmed Life (Third Eye Blind)
Hammer To Fall (Queen)
The Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota (Weird Al Yankovic)
Tea, my laptop, planner, good books, good music, and a comfy pair
of tennis shoes (substitute sandals during the summer
months).
BTW-I'm talking things, here, not people. The people in my life are
absolutely priceless. I am, however, for those of you who are
curious, seeing someone.
Six things I could do without:
Televised poker, movies starring professional athletes, Humvees for
personal use, paneling (especially the fake woodgrain variety),
spiders as pets, and Microsoft Publisher.
Starting my own business, finishing an art project, moving from
Fairmont, WV to a more artist-friendly community. The person I am
seeing. I worry about things I really have no control over (world
hunger, eco-system...). My sense of humor, and my rarely shakeable
belief that God has a plan, are the only things that help put it
all back in perspective sometimes.
I also worry about the increasing number of charming quirks that my
laptop has developed, the balance (or lack thereof) in my checking
account, the last place I think I left my cell phone charger...
Seeing someone.
I was freaked out by the Oompa Loompas when I was a kid (from Gene
Wilder's Willy Wonka movie, not the Johnny Depp version) and they
still give me the creeps.
You are another artist or graphic designer who wants to network. Or
if you feel like it. I will message you back if I feel like it. I
don't care about your orientation, your religious preferences, your
sign, your age, or whatever.
And just so you know, unless its Thursday and you are
binooby, I don't want to see
your naked photos.
