I am an Oakland native, and work in the trades. I like food, cooking, movies, books, public radio ( to the best of our knowledge , studio 360, says you,Radiolab, TAL), comedy, words,language (though I'm not great at scrabble, hhmmm),science (I could spend hours at the Exploratorium and the aquarium) learn me sumfin new, art & music of many kinds, outdoor activities, the occasional flea market or auction.
Oh,...I'm a hat whore, fedoras really, but I might not turn down a nice bowler.
I can be smart and sometimes witty though I have trouble coming up with pithy comments describing myself at times like this. I also tend towards goofy/ silly when I get comfortable around people I like.
I think I still have something of a punkrock sensibility. I get asked if I am a musician or artist enough that it no longer surprises me. I also get the occasional "Are you from the east coast?"... um, no.
I'm looking for someone I can talk to, communicate with, laugh with, trust, respect, kiss, snuggle,.... oh yeah. Profiles and compatibility scores are all well and good but it all comes down to chemistry.

I work with my hands and my mind, problem solving, communicating, repairing, building. The rest, well I'm enjoying it and trying to get better at it.

cooking (berry pies), well other stuff too (cassoulet, risotto, bouillabaisse, Thai and working on Indian), listening, noticing, communicating. I can fix stuff cuz I'm mechanically inclined, I found out I'm pretty good at Taboo and Balderdash. Jaywalking. I can do a Cockney accent pretty well.

Um, my eyes ? That I'm open and trustworthy ( my brother's words).

Oh boy this is such a big category I'll have to come back to it after thinking some more. I like movies a lot and I read quite a bit too. Fiction mostly some travel though I am interested in other genres
Books. Dr. Seuss,old sci fi,H.Potter,cook books, Life of Pi, Foucault's Pendulum; recently, A Movable Feast, Theroux, and a local detective novel series. Currently reading The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
-Just saw Arcade Fire. But I go from big band swing, bebop & cool, Bix and Django to Tom Waits,Clash, Pixies, Gogol, The Harder They Come soundtrack, Devo, XTC, Joy Division, Sinatra, Motown, funk. KALW has an awesome Africa mix Thurs nites and space music on Sun nites
-Third Man,Blues Brothers, Sand Pebbles, Incredibles, Fast Runner, Tale of the Weeping Camel, Usual Suspects, Pulp Fiction, Yojimbo, The Professional, Ghost in the Shell, Reds, once were warriors, Bringing Up Baby, Paris Texas, Hudsucker Proxy - (you know, for kids), city of lost children, ApocalypseNow Redux, Touch of Evil, Miller's Crossing, ...Really I could just go on and on. I really would like to take an unending film class but, oh well.
Truthfully I haven't been watching a great deal of movies lately.
Food: I'll eat just about anything but liver in it's normal form, though I do like pate.
Really, I love food, all kinds. Sharing food with someone you care about is bestest.
